Customer Review: Rechargable cars= Awful. Track=great.

We bought this for our 4 year old for Christmas. The track, once together didn't fall apart when he touched it, breathed near it or used it as other tracks we have purchased did. The cars, initially, when charged would go around it several times before they needed to re-shake them. The track is fairly large and does take up a fair amount of floor space and doesn't store easily nor is it something a 4 year old can put together without a great deal of adult help.
HOWEVER.... that's it's strong points. The track is only good if you have cars to go around it.
After it's first use one car wouldn't recharge. At all. Sat on the charger for 2 hours, the light went green then when we took it off and tried to use it, it couldn't go around the track once. Tried again, new batteries in the charger.. same result.
Car 2 is loosing it's charged time rapidly, so for about 2 times around the track it needs to recharge for the 45 minutes of charge time.
Another bone I have to pick with this recharging system is it charges off of batteries. Seriously looses any advantage to having a rechargeable system if you're buying batteries for it. Of course that assumes the car's rechargeable internal battery works, as ours isn't charging.
We already had the Shake and Go Crash ups Track from our older son, we'd bought this track for our younger son thinking the cars and tracks would be interchangeable. They are not. This Extreme track's cars are much smaller. Another disappointment. One would have assumed that the shake and go cars and tracks would be compatible.
So in all.. I doubt I'd buy it again or recommend it to anyone else. If I can find some regular AA battery cars that fit the track, I'd consider it.. maybe. But as it sits in my son's closet, it was a huge expensive disappointment.
