Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher-Price Shake 'n Go Crash-Ups SpeedwayCustomer Review: thought twice but bought it anyway Summary: 4 Stars
i wanted to buy the shake and go speedway for my 3yr old son for christmas. after reading reviews on amazon and other sites i almost didn't purchase it. in the stores it was $50-$60. two weeks before christmas amazon had it for $[...]. i bought it with another toy and got free shipping. i'm glad i did.
the racetrack was easy to put together and the plastic used it high quality. it comes with three cars. 2 of them have doors and hoods that open when they crash. you need a hardwood floor. the track doesn't stay together very well on carpet. the staying together part was where i was very concerned. it stays together well enough to play with it but if you move any part of it the track does come apart. i'm okay with this b/c i knew ahead of time and for the price i def. got my $$'s worth. i imagine a little super glue would go a long way toward fixing this problem.
one thing i couldn't find info on was how it works. so: you shake the cars and then put them on the track. you press a button to release the cars and they go until they wind down. maybe around twice at most. the track itself doesn't take any batteries. they jump and they also go under a piece of the track to lift it. there is a section where you can press another button and the car will leave the track and go onto the floor. my child thinks this is sooo funny.
my 3yr old is able to play with the track alone but my 8yr old daughter likes it too. well worth $21 and 4 stars. if i had paid $60 i would have had to change my opinion a little. so if you find a deal go for it. this is a fun product for (IMO) ages 2 to prob. 9.
