Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher-Price Sesame Street Silly Sounds RemoteCustomer Review: Very Good, Not as Enticing as the Real Thing - But Worth the Price!! Summary: 5 Stars
This play remote is good for teaching the babies certain things such as how to hold a remote and use thumbs to press on the more difficult keys. My twins quickly learned to handle it the way adults and big kids handle remotes. The keys that their little fingers weren't strong enough to press gave them the opportunity to learn to press with their thumbs. They look like teenagers texting.
Ok, they get bored with the remote within a minute. It would have been better if I only used this toy as a distractor when out with the babies in public. That's when something like this that makes lots of sound effects would be ideal for critical immediate situations. Again, one minute is at the top threshold length of time a baby will be occupied with this toy, in my experience with my two babies.
For the price this toy is worthwhile, no doubt. It teaches dexterity with their hands and you'll be surprised how quickly they handle this "remote control" like a big kid.
Customer Review: We love this toy! Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter fell head-over-heels in love with this toy at a friend's house right around her first birthday. I picked it up for her for her birthday after seeing how crazy she was about it.
As fickle as toddlers can be, this toy has remained her favorite. She's played with it every day for over six months, and I even ordered an extra a month or so ago in case this one got left behind somewhere, since she refuses to go anywhere without it.
It's really fun--push the buttons and you hear the voice of various Sesame Street characters. There's a button on the side that makes the "eyes" open and close and make a sort of "TV on" or "TV off" noise. Right now my daughter is into phones, and she pretends this is one--she carries it around held to her head and talks into it.
I definitely see this being a big winner for kids who like "gadgets" or, obviously, Sesame Street. She's crazy about it--I'd buy it again (and already have! :)
Customer Review: Not as good as our adult remotes but it will do Summary: 3 Stars
My son really loves to chew and look at our adult comcast remotes or anything with buttons so I thought I would buy him this remote. At first he just liked the eyes the flip down on the top. There are no flashing lights that light up when you push buttons so that was a bummer for him. Also I think the buttons are not raised enough. He particularly likes our comcast remote which has tons of buttons and they are rougher texture and pop out quite a bit. These have smooth texture and don't pop out that much.
I like that it voices the numbers 1 by 1 on each matching number button...also the channel button goes up and down in numbers also.
He just manually pulls the eyelids down instead of push the button the right. He tries to chew on the remote at the bottom but it's a little too big for his mouth. He would still rather play with our comcast remotes but this will do for a few minutes of much needed distraction.
Customer Review: Saves My Remote!... Summary: 5 Stars
This toy caught my eye because it looks almost exactly like my actual TV remote. Same color, shape, even the buttons are similarly placed. My son has an obsession with our TV remote, and whenever he gets his little hands on it, it takes me forever to undo whatever it is he's done to the TV settings!
As soon as I received this, I didn't give it to him right off. I placed it on the arm of our couch (where I tend to place our actual remote) and let him find it on his own. When he spotted it, he made a mad dash for it, and was just thrilled to pieces! He kept looking at me sideways, wondering when I was gonna take it away, and sat quietly on the couch with it for some time!
I absolutely recommend this little toy! I never put it with all his other toys, I always keep it in the living room where the real remote is so he can feel like he's playing with the actual thing...this was definitely a smart purchase!
Customer Review: The best remote! (but she still wants mine?) Summary: 4 Stars
This remote is great!! It provides lots of entertainment for my 10 month old. She received it when ahe was about 7 months old. She just loves ALL the different sounds it makes...over 30! All the numbered buttons make 3 different sounds. Plus it has sounds for channel surfing-forward and reverse. It has a volume control-that really works (NICE). Her favorite part is when the eyes blink. I have to push a button to make them blink with the sound effect-and she is still trying to figure that one out. She can pull on the eye lids and make them blink in her own (without sound)-which she enjoys. It is very durable! She has dropped this many times on to the hard ground from a shopping cart-it has never cracked and it still works! But with my baby, you still have to hide the REAL remote-she is still curious about it.
(This product was tagged under "lights"-this toy dosen't have any lights)
