Customer Review: Decent toy if you have 3 hours to waste getting it to work

My daughter received this toy as a gift for her 1st birthday. In the moment I removed the phone from the package and threw away the rest not realizing the phone could be "personalized". This is where my troubles began. I thought the other reviews describing how difficult this phone is to program with your child's name were exaggerating but they were not. It took me, a very electronics savvy person, exactly 2.5 hours to get it to work. Here are some tips that I hope will save you some trouble:
1. This is NOT MAC OS compatible. If you have do not have access to a PC you are out of luck.
2. You need your own mini-USB cord. These cords come with most digital cameras and most people have one lying around the house already.
3. Not sure if this came with a CD since I threw the packaging away. This website has the software, list of downloadable names, and download instructions:

4. If you do not find your child's name or it is pronounced incorrectly, try and alternate spelling or names that sound like your child's name. Elmo's "accent" is so strong I used an entirely different spelling of my child's name but it sounded exactly like I pronounce her name.
I hope this review saves you some time. There are 2.5 hours of my life wasted that I will never get back. Good luck!

This interactive phone also features various sound effects, five ring tones and personalized voicemail from Elmo and his Sesame Street friends. You can easily program it through a Fisher-Price website (mini USB cable not included).Phone features seven playable buttons, including: Answer/Voicemail Button to answer calls from Elmo and to hear messages from Elmo and Sesame Street friends; Ring Tone Button to change the ring tones on the phone; Number Buttons to hear Elmo identify the buttons; and Operator Buttons.
