Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher-Price Musical Tea Set

Customer Review: This set has survived 3 years of a pre-school class!
Summary: 4 Stars

My sister bought this tea set 3 years ago for my now 5 year old. My daughter LOVES it.
We had been looking for a non-breakable tea set for several months. We looked at fabric and plastic sets, but did not find one that wouldn't carry germs or break easily if it fell to the floor. In telling this dillema to my sister, she said not to worry, she had the perfect set. Boy was she right!

My daughter not only pretends to serve tea, but also any other drink you can think of. For a while, she used it to serve the make-believe food that we had ordered from our "waitress". It has withstood many "tea parties" with her friends. We gave a set to her pre-school class, and it has survived 3 years of 15+ kids playing with it daily 7 days a week!

We love it so much that we started to give it as a present to other little girls. Mom's at the parties always ask where we got it and how much it costs.

My only problem is that sometimes the battery has to "die" for a while. The sound of the teapot can get on my nerves after a long day of tea-partying. This may not bother you, but my daughter can play with this toy all day if the fancy strikes.
With that said, every little girl should have a tea set like this.

Customer Review: Great toy but you cannot put liquid in it!!!
Summary: 2 Stars

BEWARE! I got this for my 2 year old's birthday and she was immediately in love with it. The problem is that the teacups each have 2 small HOLES near the top of the cup!! Which means that when a child tries to drink real "tea," the liquid drips all over their shirt and the floor!

I called Fisher Price and was told that this was a new "European regulation"--something to do with kids not being able to drown themselves in a cup... They said that every teapot sold since MAY 2007 has the holes in it. Also the set is allegedly not meant to have liquid in it, even though the directions that came with it do not say that, and even say to protect play surfaces from liquid. I said, ok, but we don't live in Europe, can I order replacement cups? and said no, they are all made that way now, and actually told me to try looking for an older model at Big Lots, Ollies, or other closeout stores.

Have you ever seen a kid that didn't want to put water in a teacup? My daughter had it open for 10 minutes before she ran to the sink to fill it up! Then she had water all over the place! I recommend that you keeping looking if you want a fun teaset. This one would get 5 stars from me if it didn't have HOLES in it!

Customer Review: Going on Three Years of Fun
Summary: 5 Stars

My oldest daughter got this at least three years ago and not only does she still love it, but now my younger daughter is playing with it. It is the best $[...]I have spent!

This set comes with a tray that is easy for little hands to carry, four tea cups of different colors and corresponding saucers and spoons, a sugar and cream set, and a tea pot. When they tip the tea pot it plays "I'm a Little Tea Pot." Now I have to admit that once the first batteries wore out, I never replaced them. I did that for two rreasons - first, it requires the button style batteries which are expensive and second I didn't feel it was a necessary part of the toy. I really felt like my daughter played with it and loved it as an imagination toy and did not need the electronic part of it. So many toys make noise, this one didn't need to, so in my house it no longer does.

This set has been used for hundreds of tea parties in my house. I have taken it on trips and the cups served double duty as bath toys (don't put the pot in the tub). It is colorful and cute. It is just right for little hands - and it is really durable - not a chipped cup or broken handle!

Customer Review: Ugh! There are holes in the teacups!
Summary: 3 Stars

So I went out and bought this tea set for my daughter. We were super excited. Her cousin has this set, and has had it for about 2 years, and my daughter plays with it at her house. Well, we open up the box, and lo and behold, the teacups all have two holes in the side of the cup! You could only put just a little bit of water in them, before it reached the hole. Her cousin's teacups do not have holes. Why oh why did Fisher Price ruin a great thing?!? Also, besides the holes, if you leave the pot on it's side, the super annoying teapot lid continuously plays the "magic" pouring sound until the pot is righted. I'm talking about every 5 seconds the thing goes off. It is not a high quality music like most toys have now, but a high pitched poor quality sound. Also the teapot lid fits very tightly in the pot, which is good so that it doesn't fall out when you pour, but for a younger child, like 3 or younger, they may have a hard time with it. Overall, this is such an adorable tea set, and we were really looking forward to using it, but we returned it since we cannot even have a real tea party. We will continue our search for the perfect tea set.

Customer Review: Tea Time!
Summary: 5 Stars

Oh, the Magical Tea Parties we have shared with our daughter using this Musical Tea Set!
What a memory maker this has turned out to be!
From the time she was two until now, almost four years later, it has been used often and is as nice as when she first received it.
Both she and her brother have enjoyed using this set! Of course, any time water is involved it's already 'fun' with my group.
Any and all family, extended family and friends have been 'To Tea' at our house and have all enjoyed this set.
The Tray, Teapot, Sugar Bowl and Creamer, Cups, Saucers and Spoons are all geared for use by little hands.
The four cup, saucer and spoon sets are all in different coordinated colors with their own special design of either a butterfly, heart, tulip, or daisy. Making it easy for each child to know which one they used. Although, that's no guarantee as any parent well knows!
You won't be disappointed with this pretty set. It's child friendly and meant to be played with not just looked at!
