We bought our first one for our then 1 1/2 yr. old- the Deluxe one on the FP website with the music. He loved it so much, we got some the next Christmas for the grandparents- this time, the non-musical at amazon.com. We have no complaints about either- if you want music get the one from FP. If you hate changing batteries and you don't care about the music, get the amazon.com one. Personally, I think the ones without music are better because it leaves more up to the child's imagination. We've had the sets for 3 years and our now 4 1/2 year still loves them and they have both held up well. And now he understands the meaning of Christmas, and can re-inact it with his nativity. Count me among the others who expected to get something more, like you get with other little people sets, a fence to attach, a button to push. There isn't much to do with this one, and the barn is too small to interact/fit everyone in. Seems kind of chintzy. My toddler enjoys putting the donkey on the roof though instead of the angel. ;)
Previous reviewer is correct though that it will work to tell the story and keep baby out of the real creche set. I don't mind the white box, simpler packaging is easier and cheaper for everyone.
At least I ordered from TRU and didn't pay outrageous markup. One advantage of this set is it comes with lots of people. 3 wise men, animals, and the holy family.

My 3 year old and my 10 month old both love the Little People toy series. We ordered this nativity set to help teach the true meaning of Christmas. It arrived in only 3 days and my children have played with it nonstop. Yes, it came in a plain white box. No, it doesn't have lights & music. But is Christmas about what type of package your gift arrives in? Is Christmas about whether or not your toy lights up and plays music? We want to teach our children that the true meaning of Christmas is the birth of Jesus. This toy helps us begin the dialogue with our children that Christmas is not about Santa Claus and presents. We are very happy with this toy and would definatley give it as a gift.Customer Review: Great Toy, But Shame on You Amazon!

Yes, this is a great toy. I didn't know about the deluxe set with music and the lighted star, so we're fine without it. My biggest gripe, since the two sets I purchased were supposed to be gifts, is that it comes in a generic, "plain wrap" white box with black lettering on the front--definitely not gift material. I'll go to the Fisher-Price website for my gifts and give these to our church. Amazon, if you're going to pull something like this, at least show us a picture of the box so we know what we're getting. I discovered I wasn't the only one disappointed--but I had to read through more than a dozen reviews to find out! I'll think again before I place another order.Customer Review: Grandma's opinion

This I offer as a Grandma/owner of every Fisher-Price "LITTLE PEOPLE" playset made in the past six (6) years: the one called "Little People Deluxe Christmas Story" listed in the Fisher-Price 2003 Catalog at $30 has all the "bells and whistles" and is the one you will bring out every Christmas for generations. The one listed at Amazon/toysrus is made by Fisher-Price but geared for a child up to age three (3). If you have a toddler group it is perfect without batteries. I hope this helps with your shopping as I love the LITTLE PEOPLE sets and could write about them all day! God bless you "multi-tasking" shoppers; believe me it gets easier when your the granny!
