Customer Review: No more "Don't Touch"

I remember my grandmother and several aunts had nativity sets that I was always told "Don't Touch" whenever I went to look at them. Ever since I got married (14 years ago) I have been on the lookout for a set that was both "child-friendly" and cute. This set will fit the bill!I have seen many sets that had the child-like look I wanted but they were always made of china or glass. I didn't want to have to worry about the children "looking at it" or the cat knocking it over!
I found this by accident while searching for other Little People toys and ordered one. I won't get it in time for Christmas, but that's o.k. It's my gift to myself. Best of all the set can be handled, packed and unpacked and used for many many years without fear of breaking.
The trick will be to keep my 3yr old from putting Joseph and Mary in the helicopter that comes with the Little People Airport we ordered!!

For many years I have been a Child Care Provider and always feared placing my Nativity scene on display under the Christmas tree because the kids would destroy my beautiful figures. This was the answer to my needs. It was twice as great because the kids loved to play with it and it gave us an opportunity to bring up the true meaning of Christmas through a play situation, which is the best way for children to learn. They especially liked to press the Angel and hear the music it plays. The toy is sturdy, durable, beautiful and fun. It can be used as a colorful Nativity scene to decorate your home, or as a toy or both. It is still as beautiful now as when I first bought it and it has been played with a lot, by many different children in my care, including my own. There is no down side to this toy. My almost 3 year old daughter really likes all her Little People play sets. She had the Farm and the Castle sets that she got for her 1st and 2nd Christmas'. This will be a really nice childproof nativity set I can have out for her to play with when the holidays come.
I do like that this one is more "accurate" than say the Veggie Tale Xmas Nativity set. However, my daughter actually likes the Veggie Tale one a bit better, due to her fond affection for "Larry Boy" - LOL!
We actually bought both and during the holidays will probably be keeping one under the tree in the Living Room and one out on display in the Family Room as well. But she can play with them both and I needn't worry that she is going to break or damage a crystal or ceramic nativity scene. And this set will help her learn about the birth of baby Jesus.

I saw this and wanted it soo bad but it is completely out of stock - probably will be until well after Christmas and can't find it in any store! It would make a wonderful addition to my sons ever-growing Little People collection and this is his first "real" Christmas whereas he's old enough to get the jist of things. However, I was lucky enough to get it on ebay and was able to get the Catalog exclusive version with the lights and music. There are two models and this one offered on Amazon.com, which is out of stock, is just perfect but I was glad to be able to get the one with the bells and whistles, it's adorable! So, if you notice it's back in stock, buy it that minute and don't ponder it for a day like I did and missed out on it that quick. I did get what I wanted but ended up having to pay more for it and also shipping fees!Customer Review: You know what's a shame, though....?

I used to take orders at Christmas time, for Fisher-Price. I LOVED this when I first saw it, and also when I realized that they came out in a slightly different version each year. Well, by doing that, FP encouraged people to consider these more a collectible, and a way of making money, than as an educational toy. I could NOT believe that people would call and order 10 or more at a time of this adorable toy, and put them on EBay for $100 dollars - 3 times the original price! And people were nasty when we were forced to limit how many they could buy at a time!! That is just SO sad!
Anyway, tho, I'm thinking of getting one or 2 for future grandkids.....I know I just can't lose! (God bless all of you, too, who realize the REAL value of this beautiful set!)
