Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher Price Little People Racin' Ramps Garage

Customer Review: Not perfect, but still a kid-pleaser
Summary: 4 Stars

My car-loving 18-month-old son got this toy as a Christmas present, and both he and my 4-year-old daughter love to play with it. While I do find some merit in some of the complaints described in other reviews, overall my opinion about this product is favorable. Below are my thoughts on some of the issues brought up in other reviews.

It's true that the ramp tends to fall apart. But ours doesn't actually "fall apart" in that the pieces don't come apart entirely. There is one section of the ramp that comes unhinged, but it stays attached and doesn't affect the ability of cars to go down the ramp. My kids don't complain, so I just re-attach it whenever I notice it's separated, and it's not a big deal. However, it does occur to me that a younger child could possibly get his/her finger stuck in the cracks.

It's true that the end of the ramp comes out on the side of the toy, not the front. However, I don't consider this a negative thing. I like it. The structure is relatively large, and at least two kids can play comfortably around it. The ramp opening up on the side actually provides for more active play for the kid who doesn't "get" to play with toy from the front side.

It's true that the gas pump doesn't have a proper resting place, which is kind of annoying in an aesthetic sense. It just hangs. However, the hose is quite short, so it's not like it gets in the way of anything.

It's true that the elevator bell's ring could be described as lackluster, but with so many toys that make so much noise, it doesn't bother me if this bell doesn't ring loudly.

It's true that there is no way for cars to get from the second level onto the ramp. This strikes me as weird and of poor design, but my kids aren't bothered by it at all.

Some reviews complain about the functionality of the elevator, but both my kids have no problem maneuvering it. It doesn't move "smoothly", but it moves easily, and it does stop at each of the three levels.

So, it may be that I just have lower expectations for big plastic toys, or perhaps I am not as invested in this toy as others might be because I didn't pay for it, but despite all the things that could be construed as negative, I think it's great. My kids are happy with it, and they're the ultimate judges.

Customer Review: Fun for kids!

This was purchased as a gift and I was recently told that the child plays with it all the time. He loves the ramp!!

Customer Review: Huge Disappointment
Summary: 2 Stars

I grew up with the older version of this garage and loved playing with it. I was excited to get this new version for my son for Christmas this year. I was disappointed even during the set up with this. The parts are all plastic and not terribly durable. The fun with the older version is that all the levels were connected by the ramps. There was a bottom floor that you could drive around and park and get on the ramp. The second floor you could park and get on the ramp. The third floor you could drive around, park, land your helicopter and get on the ramp. All the levels were connected by an elevator that had a people section and a car section and it had a turn knob to get it moving. In this model, only the top floor can use the ramp. You have to hand pull the car only elevator to the top and that is the only way your cars can access the ramp. The second floor is useless and the bottom does not even have a floor. The gas pump used to have a turn knob and a bell and now it is just a loose hose. My son thinks this is ok, but he is not terribly fond of it. I will search to find an old version and donate this one. Don't buy it!

Customer Review: Why, oh, why didn't I listen to the other reviewers?
Summary: 1 Stars

Just as everyone says-its garbage. I'm so sad I threw away the packaging because this was our one big Xmas gift for our kid- and he gets angry and upset every time he plays. Ramps fall apart, elevator is very hard to operate. We can't just run out and buy something else- we're not well off. Thanks, Fisher Price- you took away a kid's fun Xmas gift and wasted a poor family's hard earned $.

Customer Review: Threw it in the recycling bin
Summary: 1 Stars

Firstly, it's poorly designed. The pieces of the ramp kept coming apart. Also, cars can't even enter the ramp from the second floor. It's ugly, takes up a lot of space, and is way over-priced. My son didn't play with it much, either. I kept the people and the cars and threw the rest in the recycling bin.
