Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher-Price Little People Animal Sounds Farm

Customer Review: Cheaply made
Summary: 3 Stars

I think I would have liked this better if I didn't have other Little People play sets to compare it to. First of all, the old little people farm we picked up long ago at a consignment sale is still a favorite compared to this new one. I put the new farm on my 1 year old's wish list hoping to be able to consign the old grungy looking one. However, it looks as though the old will remain beside the new for now. The old one is much sturdier and folds out like a house when being played with. The new one isn't very entertaining for my kids from the back-it just seems like a lot of wasted space. The new one has less sounds than the old one did, and the goat doesn't really have a specific place to go. The old one had a bed upstairs for the farmer and a nest for the hen which flipped over to reveal her eggs had hatched. The silo in the new farm is good for storing all of the pieces, and my 1 year old likes dropping things down the silo. I think this product should have more features and be more durable, but it is currently the best farm available for this price.

Customer Review: Cute farm animals
Summary: 4 Stars

First, I dont find anything wrong with the fact that these animals have fur, wool, etc. That is exactly why I purchased this toy. My son does not chew on his toys anymore. (He is 13 months old) You know your child. If he/she chews on toys and you think maybe they will chew the fur off and eat it, then dont buy this toy. Also, the fur is not "unsanitary". I have had no problem cleaning these toys. As for the rest of the toy, my son enjoys putting the animals and farmer into the silo and through the barn doors. He likes putting other toys in it also. I didnt even realize the silo door could come off easily until a 7 year old came over and took it off. My son has never taken the silo off. My son will play with this toy for about 15 minutes at a time and usually about 2 times a day. An ok buy in my opinion. He will enjoy it more when he is a bit older and can pretend play. Also, I am teaching him the difference in the animals which he is learning pretty quickly as now he can distinguish them and point when I say "point to the sheep" etc.

Customer Review: Not bad and not the best
Summary: 3 Stars

We received this for my daughter for Christmas (almost 2 yrs old) and she has plenty of fun stuffing the animals down the silo and pulling them out the bottom. She also loves to pull open the doors that make the animal sounds and moves the chicken back and forth. As far as educational value, it's minimal. Maybe when she gets older she will put the horse behind the door that makes the horse sounds, but not just yet.

I do have one big gripe with this toy. My niece also received this toy for her first birthday and we both have the same issue. The cow's door does not work very well or at all. My niece's cow door is stuck and only a 3+ yr old could figure out to pull much harder to unstick it to make a sound. My daughter's cow door worked for all of 3 minutes and now makes no sound at all.

Beyond that, not a bad toy. Durable, makes plenty of sounds, and the toys are much bigger these days so there is no choking hazard.

Customer Review: This farm is different from the one my kids enjoyed
Summary: 3 Stars

I ordered the Fisher Price Animal Farm for my grandson (age 18 months) because he loves animal sounds and I remembered how much my own children loved this toy. I expected some differences but it seems that everything is different about this toy. Why mess with a great toy? The old toy used to "moo" loudly every time you opened the barn. This toy makes different noises for each animal but not clearly enough (in my opinion, that is). Sometimes it is hard to distinguish between the horse noise and the sheep noise. If I have a hard time hearing the differences -- how is the baby supposed to hear the difference? With that said, my grandson still seems to like this toy. It doesn't hold his interest as long as other toys (like I thought it would) -- but that could change as he gets a little older and begins using his imagination to play with the toy animals and farmer(instead of just working the "action" and sounds part of the toy like he is doing now).

Customer Review: Disappointing
Summary: 2 Stars

I was so excited to receive the new version (touch & feel farm) for my son's 1st birthday. We actually bought the older version, but took it back when we found out (a week later) that there was a newer version available. It was a huge disappointment. My son removes the silo faster than I can connect it back on. The animals have "fur," which I thought was a really great idea until my son started biting the hair off of the sheep. The rooster slides across the front of the barn to send the other animals down the slide, and is not removable. By opening three different barn doors you can hear a "moo", "oink", or "neigh" and place those animals inside the barn. There is a location for the sheep, and in order to hear the "baa," you push on its hay inside the stall. The only pro I can come up with is that the barn is much lighter in weight than the original. I am sorry I did not keep the original because now I cannot find it anywhere.
