Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher Price Learning HomeCustomer Review: Great toy! Summary: 5 Stars
I was a little skeptical of the toy, but after reading the reviews I decided to give it a try. My daughter was only 6 months old, but she's large for her age and about ready to outgrow her exersaucer. I wanted to get something that would attract her attention and keep her engaged.
My husband was not happy about having to put this thing together. It has a lot of pieces, but not too difficult to follow. It is pretty sturdy and doesn't seem like it is likely to break.
The sound has two volumes. We keep it on loud. The sounds aren't "too" annoying and the softer version doesn't seem loud enough. There are also PLENTY of different things on the house that make different noises: door opening/closing, mailbox, ball in rain gutter, window opening, doorbell, etc.
At first my daughter wasn't too interested. She would watch as I put the balls in the drain spout over and over and over. Now that she's able to sit up on her own, she will reach for the balls on her own and play with the shapes in the door. More recently, she has scooted and shimmied (not quite crawling forward yet) over to it and had a delighted reaction when she moved the door and it made sounds.
It is a great toy that I'm sure will keep her engaged for a long time. My daughter is only looking at one side so far and I'm very happy with the investment. That said, I think you can find it for a better price at Target or Walmart and not have to pay shipping.
Customer Review: Finally, a toy as good as it looks! Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the best purchases I have made. My baby started playing with a bit of it starting at 7 months - now he is 1 year old and he is able to play with most of it. It held his interest very well and it helped him from sitting, crawling, standing, and now to walking with support. (in fact, this is one of the first toys which got him to stand - he wanted to play with the numbers and dial!) My advice is that if you are to get this toy, get it early so that you can maximize duration of its usage. The door is not high enough for any baby to walk through so if you buy it only after your baby walks, the doorway is not of much development value.
It is true that it takes up much space but I still wished the base were wider, because I have an exceptionally huge baby (90th percentile). It is stable when he leans on it but unfortunately he is starting to learn to walk and sometimes he sways from one position to the next - arms free in air, then 'fly' onto this toy with extra momentum - and it almost wobbled and gobbled and almost toppled over. Now I put the door close to the fence of the playyard so that it won't fall over. He is still able to play with both sides with some challenge (less room on one side) but his interest won't stop him!
Overall, great toy with great look and great value for your money. Highly recommend! However looking at the price on Amazon as of writing, I recommend checking the price on fisher price's website first.
Customer Review: Wonderful toy! Kids love it of all ages! Summary: 5 Stars
We've had this toy for 5 years now and it is still in like-new condition after our now 5-year old and 15-month old have been playing with it.
It's a little pricey compared to other toys but you'll get a ton of play out of it so it makes it well worth the money and then some!
It's great for a child 6+ months who can sit and crawl around because there are many activities for the little one to do such as spin the flower, spin the rollar toy below the mailbox, etc. Once your child is a little older, they can open and close the window, push the buttons on the radio (all which play nice music for kids), open/close the door and mailbox, and play with the shapes in the door. Standing they can play with the night/day changer that plays music, change the house numbers above the door, move the clock hands, and put the shapes in the applicable spots on the "inside" of the top of the home.
I also HIGHLY recommend the Fisher Price: Laugh n' Learn Kitchen (the full-size version with the crawl-thru doorway, not the newer tiny version). It's also pricey but it's another EXCELLENT toy that your kids will get a ton of use out of so it is definitely worth the cost!
This is one of our favorite toys and all of our friends' kids love playing with it when they come to our house! Babies, toddlers and even older kids like our 5-year old.
Customer Review: Great bang for your buck! So many activities! Summary: 5 Stars
Wow! This is a new Fisher Price toy that I hadn't heard of before - but knew I had to have it when I saw it. My daughter loves to crawl in and out of things, so I thought this would be a great floor level toy that might keep her interest. This was purchased for her first birthday and I think we are still discovering new buttons and such! There are so many activities and interesting things on this toy that I think the price was a real bargain! The house numbers, the rain gutter, the radio, the clock, the window, the mailbox, etc, etc! There are sounds for nearly every activity, and even the sounds can be changed depending upon what setting the radio is on. My daughters current favorite place in the "house" is the mail box. She loves putting the mail in and out of it. She gets very excited and just chatters away at this toy - crawling in and out of the door and listening as it "creaks" open and then "slams" shut. The toy overall seems to focus mostly on the concept of opposites (night/day, up/down, open/close, etc) and numbers. There are two volume settings - the lower one being just loud enough for her to hear it while she is playing (thank you Fisher Price!) and the other much louder. On the lower setting, I cannot hear it unless I am sitting at the toy with her. I just can't say enough about all the activites - I expect that this will be a toy she can play with for a long time without getting bored of it!
Customer Review: MAYA'S FAVORITE TOY BY FAR!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to introduce myself, and give all moms (and dads) of 9 month -24 month olds a fabulous recommendation. My name is Melissa, I have worked professionally with children as a pre-k teacher, day care provider, baby sitter, & nanny for 10 + years. My daughter will be a year next week, and I also care for a 17 month old. When Devon started with us it happened to be Valentines day. For Valentines I bought the LAUGH 'N' LEARN HOUSE for Maya. At the time Maya was only 6 months, and was limited in abilities; but Devon just fell in love with it. AT 10 months Devon was able to play with all the functions on the toy. Her first day went so smoothly, and I really feel it had to do partly with this toy. Six months later almost to the day THEY LOVE THEIR HOUSE! It's still by far their favorite, and most used toy!!! It's the best 59.99 investment thus far. I have purchased an entire play room of various toys, and educational materials; and this by far has surpassed all my expectations, and has managed to keep my girls happy! After watching them this morning playing with their house, and with each other using this house, I really felt the need to share this secret with you all. If you are looking for a fabulous toy, you won't feel you've wasted your money on, I suggest this one. (Plus I have a feeling it's re-sale value will be at least 50% if and when it's no longer of use.) Good Luck!!!
Melissa
