Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Smart Bounce & Spin PonyCustomer Review: Not interested at 12 months - loves it now at 20 Summary: 4 Stars
At first I thought this was a waste of space and money. My son LOVES to jump. It was sad when we had to put his jumper away, so I was hoping that this would be a good replacement. Nope. It sat there and he rarely used it. If I turned on the TV part he'd get off the horse and start pressing the buttons like he was playing a video game. So I put it all away for a long time. Now that he is older and starting to learn his letters and numbers, he adores this. He uses it about once a day and it will entertain him for 20 solid minutes. I don't see the point of levels 1 and 2, those never seemed to interest him, but level 3 he loves.
I did notice that it was squeaky when I first got it. Turned it upside down and squeezed some wd40 in it and left it sit overnight and have not had a problem since.
Overall this is a good toy but I think the TV part is only good for kids who are starting to learn their letters and numbers. If you're not working on those with your kid yet, this will probably be a disappointment.
Customer Review: Good toy Summary: 4 Stars
My 22 month old son got this for xmas when he was 20 months old. It took a while for him to catch on that he made it move when he bounced. It holds his attention for a little while, but not for terribly long; he seems more into trying to play with the base remote that connects to the TV. However, my son doesn't really stick with anything for long- he's always on the go.
The tv graphics are cute, and educational. However, I cannot for the life of me figure out why they put buttons on the pony's handle bars that switch the game being played. He found those buttons quickly, and now never actually finishes a game, but scrolls through them, so I'm not sure what the games are actually teaching him. In the alphabet section, he might make it to G before switching, and often never even starts a game. That might be a phase.
Over all, I gave it a 4 star, because it is nice and fun. It's not a must have, but he does like it. He likes to bounce on it without the TV being hooked up to it too.
Customer Review: A little fun, good idea, but disappointing overall. Summary: 3 Stars
My daugter was given this toy as a gift and I was disappointed in Fisher Price. The horse itself is poorly designed so that in order to bounce it she has to literally jump up and down to get it to move. It will spin but on a whole doesn't move very easily. She's 16mos old and I'm hoping that it will have more entertainment value as she gets older. At this stage the fact that it interacts with the television completly escapes her. She does like that it plays music when she "rides" it but it doesn't hold her attention for long. She rides for a little while and then moves on after just a few minutes. The quality of the item as a whole is not what I expect of Fisher Price and I think this toy could have used a little more development time before sales. Had I purchased this at the full sale price I would be very dissapointed.
Customer Review: My 16 month old's favorite new toy Summary: 4 Stars
My son loves this pony. He bounces a ton with it and has a great time. We had a playdate this weekend and it was the favorite toy with all the 12-18 month olds I know. I will say I'm not crazy about the tv part. When we put it on, it didn't seem to do much, the graphics were just ok, and my son just wanted to get off his pony and sit staring at the tv. I put the video part away in the closet and he just happily bounces on the pony now instead.
Now that we've had it for two weeks, it's not the kind of thing that will hold his attention for long spans of time like the little people farm does, but he does have a lot of fun on it for a few minutes a couple times a day.
Customer Review: Good Idea, but it needs improvement Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this for my daughter's first birthday because it says it is best for 12mos - 3 years. I LOVED the idea of her being able to have something interactive with the TV that would also allow her to bounce.
The biggest complaint I have is that it really doesn't bounce that much. It does spin, but not that easily. It doesn't even rock back and forth. My daughter couldn't get it to move much, so there wasn't much going on on the tv. I don't think it's that she's not heavy enough- she weighs 22 lbs. If that's the case, they should change the age range.
She absolutely loves bouncing, but this thing doesn't really bounce. Too bad...I'm going to have to return it.
