Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Learning Puppy

Customer Review: what a disappointment!!!
Summary: 2 Stars

I WAS SO EXCITED TO GET THIS FOR MY 8 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER AFTER I HAD READ ALL THE WONDERFUL REVIEWS AND ESPECIALLY BECAUSE SHE LOVES MUSIC AND SONGS LIKE "ITSY BITSY SPIDER"....BUT I WAS SO UPSET WHEN I GOT IT HOME AND TOOK THE PLASTIC PIECE OUT THAT MAKES IT GO FROM DEMO MODE IN THE STORE TO REGULAR PLAY AND IT STILL ONLY PLAYS A FEW WORDS OF EACH SONG AND THEN STOPS!! MY DAUGHTER STARTS TO CLAP AND SMILE WHEN SHE HEARS THE SONGS AND THEN GETS UPSET B/C IT ENDS SO ABRUPTLY. EX: IT SINGS "THE ITSY BITSY SPIDER CLIMBED UP THE WATER SPOUT" THEN STOPS AND SINGS "DO YOU EARS HANG LOW, DO THE WOBBLE TO AND FRO" THEN STOPS. I EXPECTED TO HEAR THE WHOLE SONG. WE'VE HAD IT 1 WEEK NOW AND SHE JUST CRAWLS RIGHT PAST IT AS I THINK IT UPSETS HER MORE THAN ANYTHING. I'M GOING TO CALL FISHER PRICE TO SEE IF THIS WAS A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT OR IF IT WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY.

Customer Review: Great for my 10 month old
Summary: 5 Stars

I originally purchased this toy when my daughter was only 3.5 months old as her first Christmas present. She of course didn't know what to do with it but I would play the songs and sing along to them and make the puppy dance with the music and she enjoyed that. Now that she's older (almost 11 months now) she LOVES to sit and play with it by herself (or with Mommy or Daddy too). I've seen reviews about the pressure points being too sensitive but I think that's a good thing; even little babies can activate the toy and get enjoyment out of it. The songs are great, my daughter loves it when I sing along to them for her and when we're in the car I can sing them to her and cheer her up if she's getting anxious or upset (I have long since memorized them all). I think this is a great toy and a minimal investment for what I can see to be a toy with a lot of longevity.

Customer Review: too sensitive to teach cause and effect
Summary: 3 Stars

I am not going to lie, my daughter loves this dog. It is cute. The music is not so annoying that parents will remove the batteries. :)
Still, I had hoped that the toy would teach my daughter. When you touch it it names the body part and sings. But it is so sensitive that no matter where she touches it it sings. She will give it a hug and it will tell her "green hand, yellow foot." Since it responds so easily, she does not connect the voice with her touch. Furthermore, when it sings actual songs, if you bounce it (or dance with it)it responds to your touch by switching songs. The only way to hear the whole song is to put the dog on the floor, than touch him and move away.

All in all, it is a very cute toy. It will not teach your child anything (except maybe a few words, disconnected from meaning.) It is WAY too sensitive.

Customer Review: We named it Yellow Foot
Summary: 2 Stars

The yellow foot sensor is so sensitive that it goes off all the time, so we just named him Yellow Foot.

On the song setting, it would be nice to have a delay feature of some kind that lets the song finish even if another sensor is pushed. I can appreciate that, because of the target age, the sensors need to be easy to push, but I think they are a bit over sensitive in general. My daughter greatly enjoys the songs, which I don't find annoying personally, but we rarely get to hear them unless I hold her back from touching the toy until the end of the song!

I can see this being a very educational toy. It is fun, really, but it's definitely not a hands-on toy because of the over sensitive panels...especially the yellow foot.

And I didn't even know there was an off feature! We always turn off the battery pack.

Customer Review: My 2 year old loves her puppy!
Summary: 5 Stars

She received the puppy for Christmas this past year, and while it took her a few days to really sit down and play with it (thanks to getting WAAAY too many gifts!), she now *loves* the puppy. She asks to take it in the car, no matter if we're driving several hours to visit family, or driving a few minutes to run errands.
She already knew a lot of the basics the puppy teaches, but she still has lots of fun playing and dancing and singing as the puppy sings. She's working on her A-B-C's thanks to the puppy's A-B-C song.
However, while we didn't have problems with the ear, we had problems with one of the puppy's paws! Perhaps there is a slight technical glitch with the wiring or set-up of the buttons...hopefully Fisher-Price will get this figured out.
Regardless, this puppy is super cute and provides lots of educational fun.
