I bought this DVD player with the idea that it was drop proof and better made for a kid. Well, we've had it less than a year, and it is going back to Fisher Price. It skips, jumps, freezes...and just doesn't play right. Apparently, a lot of people are having problems with it. F-P didn't even offer a replacement, just a refund. Now I am stuck with the $[...] car kit I bought to go with it.
I think I'll stick to the $[...] players they sell at retail stores...at least I've never had a problem with them.

This toy started off as a great christmas gift but now that I'm about to take my son on a 22hr. train trip back North, it refuses to work or charge! Yes he dropped it and yes he's rough. But this toy is supposed to hold up to the average 3yr-old. Now I don't know what to do because I don't have time to send it back and I'm not going to buy another one only to reach the same fate!!!! I'm furious just as I see other's are also! Fisher Price needs to take these things off the shelf if they aren't fool proof!Customer Review: It was great - while it lasted!

I bought this off of ebay and it was a great toy when it worked. One day (about 90 days after purchase) my son tried turning it on and the screen was dark and the dvd was not moving. I learned my lesson buying it on ebay - the warranty is no good! If you do buy this toy from a "primary" retailer then you can get your money back for 2 years which is pretty good. The only other thing was the screen is a little small. There is also no lock on the DVD compartment so littler siblings can open it too easily.Customer Review: Satisfied

I am shocked at the abuse that the Tough Kid DVD Player is taking and still able to play. My son has dropped it many times and it still works. Sometimes the sound button gets stuck (from being dropped so many times). I have to keep it charged because he uses it everyday. I haven't taken it on any road trips hopefully, it will be able to stay charged for at least 2 to 3 hours. The product arrived within 5 to 7 days in its original packing. My daughter loves this DVD player. I bought it for a long flight (5 hours and vacation). It can withstand a lot of tough play and falls. It didn't skip or become disrupted at all. I wish the screen was a bit bigger but it is easy to use and she managed to learn which buttons to press on her own. The battery life was good for a couple of hours of continuous viewing. It has a stand that props it up if the kids don't want to hold it. I would recommend it even though it is pricey.
