Customer Review: Couldn't stand up to a three year old. Do not recommend

This was great fun when first opened last Christmas. My grandson is a relatively gentle boy and does not destroy toys. It took him a little while to learn how to operate this player and it worked well for the first month or so but then it gave up. Periodically we tried it again and for no apparent reason it would work for a while and then fail to operate again. It was dropped a couple of times but not really badly handled. It appears to be too delicate for use by a small child. Now we have sporadic success in getting it to play his videos and this is a disappointment for him. I had read negative reviews before purchasing this but had hoped that with more gentle care it would prove reliable. It hasn't.

We got this item for our 3 year old son for Christmas and has been great so far....no real complaints other than I wish the battery lasted longer than 2 hours. It's very easy for my son to use and very kid friendly. I wish the screen was a little bigger, but it dosen't seem to bother my son at all. He dropped it once so far and it didn't affect it at all, so that was a relief. I wish that it didn't take so long to charge the battery so maybe they will improve on that in the future hopefully. I love the fact that it has two legs that pop out of the back so you can stand it up on a table....this is very handy. We made this purchase thinking that this would be a great travel item for our 2 1/2yr old son. He opened it on Christmas and immediately loved it! We played several DVD's in it over the next few days and then suddenly, it wouldn't read any DVD's at all, even known good ones. The advertisement states that it is durable and kid tough and will survive drop after drop. We are pretty certain that this item was not dropped or mishandled since we were supervising our son when he was watching it. We are pretty disappointed and a little frustrated that after spending $150.00 plus shipping/handling we now have essentially a five pound paper weight!Customer Review: WONDERFUL for a busy/active toddler!!

Even though I wasnt sure I wanted to spend $180+ on a "toy" for my 2 year old, I went ahead and purchased it from ToysRus. After only having this player for a few hours I can safely and proudly say that this was the BEST money I have spent in a long time. I LOVE the durability and ease of this item. My 2 yr old is ADHD and shopping with him is usually unbearable. Any trip to the grocery store longer than 15 minutes is pure torture...and the mall? forget it! BUT.. now.. I am certain that shopping will be fun again for BOTH of us. It keeps his focus and I dont have to worry about him dropping it 1,400 times!!

This thing is a piece of junk!! It has always had a hard time recognizing dvd's and spent an enormous amount of time searching before it would play. Finally, it just stopped working. We also have a pink one which stopped working about a week after we got it (imagine explaining to your 3 y/o why her new Christmas toy doesn't work). I called the manufacturer and they sent me a new one (after I sent mine back, so after about a month). That one works very sparatically. I called the manufacturer again when the blue stopped working, they are sending me a refund for both b/c apparently they aren't making them anymore. I can see why. :(
