Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher-Price Kid Tough Portable DVD Player BlueCustomer Review: Malfunctioned within One Hour of Use Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this item in our local Toys R Us for [...]. I tought it was pricey, but seemed durable and fun for my 2 1/2 yr old. I charged it overnight and gave it a try. Within one hour, the image started to freeze and the system reset to loading the disk. I tried several DVDs with the same result. So dissaponting... my child did not even touch it. So I returned it and got a new unit. We'll see. Also, the screen is so minuscule that only a child can really watch anything on it. I wish I had purchased a normal DVD player, instead of this.
UPDATE: the replacement unit also malfunctioned within 2 days. Ended up buying a Sony with swivel, 9 in screen for the same price. What a difference. Fisher-Price should be ashamed of lending its name to this product. I know that I have not purchased ANYTHING from this brand since, and not planning to ever again. If I could give this item zero stars I would.
Customer Review: Fisher Price DVD Player never worked Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this Fisher Price DVD player through Amazon, a re-seller called Magic Memories. The item did not work properly from the time it was first used. The DVD's skipped and it did not hold a charge. It seemed to have been "repackaged"
But my son did not tell me about the problems for 28 days, so when I contacted Magic Memories they told me it had been 30 days since they shipped it and they could not help me. I will not purchase through the Amazon "resellers" again. Selling damaged items and refusing to make the item good is not acceptable. Not a good thing for Amazon or Magic Memories My grand daughter has had one of these DVD players for two years and it has been great. But this one was purchased damaged.Fisher-Price Kid Tough Portable DVD Player Blue
Customer Review: Very happy with this purchase! Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased this on Ebay for my 2 year old. We love it! I load the dvd for him and he does the rest. He loves pushing the buttons and carrying the little dvd player around with him. The screen is small, but the resolution is so great that it doesn't really matter. The player auto corrects itself when it detects a scratch on the dvd. You can jostle the player around and even drop it on a couch or bed and it won't even skip. We bought the "on the go kit" separate and it has everything we need to go on a trip. It includes the car adapter, ac adapter, ear phones, ear phone splitter, and rca cables. I had thought about buying a different player, that had a bigger screen and was less expensive, but now I am really happy to have spent [...] on this toddler friendly dvd player. I think this will hold up to years of little hands.
Customer Review: OK idea, but no practicle. Summary: 2 Stars
Ok, great idea, but not for little kids and by the time they are old enough for a DVD player you can buy them a cheap one. The isssue is my son opens the case up which stops the DVD, he then trys to pull the disk out. A pain while driving. Also, he love the buttons, so he pushes all the buttons again stoping play. So not for the car. What would have made this product perfect would be a lock on the DVD case and buttons so you can drve some place and still have the DVD playing.
So while I like the idea, it is not a good DVD player for under say 5, and 5 on up I would just buy a cheap $40 poratble with a larger screen. At the price of this thing, so what if they break one or two, you would still be saving money.
Customer Review: Excellent for road trips Summary: 5 Stars
Bought this product for my daughter for christmas when she was 2, she's now 3 and can work it entirely by herself.
We use it for long road trips and set her up in her car seat with a few dvd's and she's in seventh heaven.
I tried buying some children headphones (where the volume only goes to a certain level) but they were actually not loud enough. We wanted her to be able to listen to her movie while we listened to music or talked. Even when we weren't talking that loudly the highest volume level wasn't enough.
She ended up using my ipod headphones and it all worked perfectly.
Mind you without headphones the volume on the actual device has a perfect range of volume.
