Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera Pink [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging]Customer Review: Horrible Summary: 1 Stars
Horrible product. The only good thing about it is that it's rugged. Problems:
- image quality is horrible under all but the most ideal conditions. It requires very bright daylight.
- flash is so weak that even a subject 4 feet away turns out dark.
- it only takes alkaline batteries. It won't take rechargeables.
- it will last only a few shots (20-30 w/ flash) with brand new batteries, at which point it says the battery is too low. But if you take those batteries out and put them in a tester, it reads that the battery is still very strong.
- it's way over priced. I ended up getting a low end canon camera for about the same price and my 4 year old has much more fun with that, and we get much more interesting pictures from her perspective.
Customer Review: Nice camera for kids Summary: 4 Stars
We just got this for our 8 year old and she loves it. I went with this one from the other fisher price one due to this one was only $45.00 compared to $70 range for the one on the Fisher Price web site. This one differs in that it does not have a SD slot. It does have 64mb of flash memory which lets it hold 170 pictures at the hightest quaility which is 640 x 480. It does seem to go through the batteries quick, but that could be because my daughter took over 200 pictures in an hour and looked at some and deleted some from the camera. It does have a built in flash. I have not downloaded any pictures to the computer yet. The instructions say it will be detected as a mass storage device. It does not come with any software but does have the usb cable to connect it.
Customer Review: !! Danger !! - Camera comes with virus !! Summary: 3 Stars
We purchased this camera for my daughter and she loves the thing. It is built like a tank, handled some drops and a tumble down the stairs and kept on chugging - so that is definitely the positive aspect of this camera.
The negative side though is the camera came infected with a trojan/virus on the flash memory that is set to autorun when you plugin the camera via USB. Luckily McAfee was able to clean the code out.
A quick google search and it appears i'm no the only with with an infected camera (that is apparently clean now that McAfee was able to remove the files). I'm going to call Fisher Price and make a formal complaint and see what they will do to make sure the virus won't come back or isn't infected beyone
Customer Review: Expensive & useless Summary: 1 Stars
When we purchased this camera we were really looking forward to my 3 year old daughter using it.
However:
1) It goes through alkaline batteries in about 20 min and doesn't work on Ni-Mh rechargeable batteries at all.
2) The resolution is appalling. The technology is about 10 years old.
3) It's very difficult for little fingers to operate because it's quite hard to press the button down to take pictures
4) It takes about 5 attempts to turn it on because each time you do it turns itself off again, even with brand new batteries.
5) It now won't turn on at all and it's less than 2 months old and hasn't been abused by may daughter
Don't buy this it's a complete waste of money
Customer Review: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly Summary: 2 Stars
This is such a great idea! My DD loves this camera...unfortunately the camera doesn't love her :) After the first 3 weeks, the camera wouldn't turn on. So, we replaced the batteries several times, and nothing! So, I contacted Amazon, and back it went! We received the new camera, and all was fine until just recently (6 mos later). Same problem!!!! Now it's too old, no returns accepted.
Camera has a pretty large memory - quality is pretty poor, however can keep a little one busy for a long time! Be prepared to replace batteries regularly with use, as it tends to eat them up! Unfortunately the quality is not made to last a long time. Not sure it is worth the $$ just to be used a few short months.
