Customer Review: Decent camera, but came with a virus
Summary: 3 Stars

My daughter got this camera for Christmas from a relative. The frustration-free packaging worked great, and the camera is easy for her to use. It does indeed eat batteries, but it only runs on 4 AAA so there's not a lot of juice available. Since it uses flash memory, even if the batteries die the pictures are preserved.

My biggest problem is there was a virus pre-installed in the flash memory of the camera! It's the Win32/Agent.NAV virus and apparently it's been going on for months. See http://rich.whiffen.org/?p=96 for another report of it. I have not yet contacted Fisher-Price about this.

My antivirus software instantly recoginized the virus and killed it. The virus relies on the AutoRun feature enabled on your PC, so make sure to disable the Autorun feature BEFORE hooking up the camera! Once you've done that you can quickformat the flash drive and kill the virus.

I'm glad it's cheaper than the original Kid Tough camera. I've never used the original or tried the Vtech brand...the resolution does suck. My phone is smaller and takes better pictures. It has been through drops and still works. Haven't tested it's waterproof feature yet. My daughter is 3 and is very petite. She has a hard time positioning her fingers to apply enough pressure on the shutter button. She also gets too excited about the shutter noise. As soon as she hears it, she thinks it's done and all of the images come out blurry. We'll work on that. I have to keep getting a screwdriver to open the battery port which includes the miniUSB port every time I transfer the pictures. I wish there was a wrist strap. Well, it's fun to her and her almost 2 yr old sister. I don't have to worry about them breaking my $1500 digital camera anymore.

Customer Review: FP Kid-Tough Camera is the Best I've Found
Summary: 4 Stars

I got my 3 year old daughter this camera for Christmas. She was able to begin using it right away. The pictures are a little hard to see on the small screen. She was able to look through the double viewfinder and capture most of her subjects. Pictures were clear and in focus when we downloaded them. She takes this camera almost everywhere and loves to use it. It has been dropped several times and is in perfect working order.

The buttons are easy to use and understand. I like that the camera turns itself off if it is not in use, so your batteries don't wear out! The Frustration Free Packaging from Amazon was awesome. She didn't have to wait to get her toy "free" on Christmas morning and I didn't have to take time before wrapping it to do the same! Great, great camera for small children!

Customer Review: Fun for all
Summary: 4 Stars

Great camera for my kids. Honestly, the resolution isn't great and the flash tends to completely over expose subjects that are too close but..

I have a 5 year old & a 2.5 year old that can take photos! It fits their hands, it's been pretty durable so far, the kids get a real kick out of taking your picture for a change! I also like that you don't need to download any program to transfer the photos to your computer & the internal memory is plenty big enough for the kids. This really just teaches them what taking photos is all about.

The biggest downside that I can see is the battery life - pretty much two days of use & it needs more batteries. Figure I'll try some rechargeables & see if I can save some $$.

Oh & the hassle-free packaging from amazon - ROCKS!

Customer Review: Good for the money
Summary: 4 Stars

I really do like the product except for two things.

#1 The LCD is horrible (which is to be expected). A neighbor has the v-tech digital camera and although this one has a higher Mega-pixel value, the LCD on the v-tech is noticeably better (but still horrible by an adult's standard).

#2 I had concerns that the shutter button was going to be difficult for my 3 year old to push. It is really small and rather stiff to push. It is also located in a hard spot for their little hands. However, she is able to use it. The v-tech has two shutter buttons that are much bigger and easier to push (one is on the back next to the LCD).

Other than those two complaints, the camera is durable, inexpensive, cute, and keeps the kids entertained!
