Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera Pink [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging]Customer Review: Great Camera For Little Hands Summary: 4 Stars
We bought this camera for our 2 1/2 year old daughter for Christmas. She has always loved using our old digital camera that we no longer use but then she broke it. So we figured a kid tough camera would be wonderful for her. It is very easy for her to hold and reach the button to snap a picture. She can easily navigate the buttons to view the photos or delete them. Overall this is a great child's camera. The picture quality isn't as high as an adult's camera but you just have to remember, this is a child's camera. The pictures don't turn out well when the camera is too close to something at the time of the photo but the photos look pretty good when taken farther away. The only bad thing is that it sucks down batteries like crazy! It says not to use rechargeable batteries but we do and they work just fine. But we end up having to charge them every day. I would definitely recommend this camera for younger children. They can have fun taking photos and being creative. It's fun to see all the photos our daughter has taken and she is always so excited to share them with us!
Customer Review: Not much bang for the buck... Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this item for my little one's 3rd birthday by mistake. It wasn't until after my child opened it and was playing with it that I realized that it didn't play any games or have any other cool functions, as the model that I had INTENDED to buy does. The only thing it does is shoot pictures and is water resistant. I was especially unimpressed with the quality of the images on the viewfinder.
For the price I paid for it, I didn't feel like I was getting much product for my money. After all, for only five bucks more, I could get another model by vTech that shoots pictures, has an SD card slot for additional memory, in-camera photo editing, shoots movies, can have sounds clips added to photo files, and has three fun preschool games!
I couldn't get the batteries out of this Fisher Price model and put it back into its packaging to return to the store fast enough! For the lack of features on this camera, it really should be in a lower price point.
Customer Review: My daughter loves it, but the pictures are TERRIBLE. Summary: 2 Stars
We bought this for my 3 year old daughter for Christmas and she loves it. She takes it around the house and takes pictures of whatever she is looking at. The controls are intuitive enough that after I showed her how to use it a couple of times, that she mastered it. I had noticed that when we were viewing pictures on the LCD on the back of the camera that they looked bad. If the flash fired they where blown out and other issues. However I attributed it to the LCD and not necessarily the pictures themselves. Well last week I pulled the pictures off of the camera and I was very disappointed to see that the pictures just really are that bad. When the flash doesn't fire, the pictures are tolerable, but when it does, they are down right bad. These pictures have a lower quality than the majority of cell phone pictures I have seen. The bottom line is that your kid may enjoy playing with it, but don't expect to have may keepsakes to put in the family photo albums.
Customer Review: Buyer Beware - Battery Issues Summary: 1 Stars
I bought two pink Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Cameras - one for each of my daughters. They *love* them when they work but unfortunately every 2nd or 3rd time you turn it on it says the batteries are dead and turns itself right off. The batteries are not dead, the camera just thinks they are. I've resorted to carrying a screwdriver with me whenever the kids use their camera. I pop off the back, re-seat the batteries, close it back up, and voila' the camera works again. It's a huge pain to deal with. From reading the reviews, I'm not alone. If you buy this item, prepare for it.
I would send them back for exchange but Amazon.com doesn't have an exchange program and the price of the camera is now almost twice what I paid. Not having an exchange program sure seems like a great way for a company to dump a bunch of defective products. You lower the price, sell them to "Santa" and then raise the price again after Christmas. Very disappointing.
Customer Review: Fun, sturdy and easy to use Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this camera for my 3 year old. I was concerned at first that she would not like it since it is larger and looks different then the camera she's been used to playing with (our "adult" digital camera)but that hasn't been the case. I was also concerned that it would be to bulky for her little hands to work but Fisher Price knew what they were doing. This has been a fun toy, one that I don't worry about her breaking when we take to the park or zoo. My only complaint is the batteries seem to drain really quickly but that's life with battery operated toys. Picture quality is grainy but hasn't bothered her. I think this is good value for the money and would buy it again if ours was lost. Highly recommend this model over the cheaper versions you can find at the drug stores! It's only a good deal if it will last and those are not made for the long run and are not very operator friendly either.
