Customer Review: Do NOT use Re-chargeable Batteries?
Summary: 1 Stars

I was very disappointed when I read the insert for this item and discovered that the manufacturer explicitly advises against the use of rechargeable batteries. Everyone who has a young child or is a grandparent realizes the costs faced by parents when keeping battery operated toys functioning. I was surprised that none of the reviews I read mentioned this little fact. Since this is a Christmas gift it hasn't been used yet. I am anxious to see how quickly the batteries will need replacing. I know the first digital cameras with non rechargeable batteries were practically useless because of the short battery life. Maybe that portion of the technology improved along with everything else and I will be pleasantly surprised. If so I will make an effort to follow up this review with a more positive one.

Customer Review: Great... for tiny tots only!
Summary: 1 Stars

Unless you're buying for a two, three, okay maybe a four-year old, steer clear. While this camera is "functional", it's really not usable to take pictures, even for a child. The LCD is useless (grainy, very dark) and the resolution of the photos is not suitable for printing (unless you're creating stamps). This is really an 'interactive toy' for the tiniest of tots, not a camera. Kids are fairly astute nowadays -- my 6 year old daughter, having used her Mom's little Casio point-and-shoot only a few times before, didn't 'buy' into this camera at all (no, she's not a spoiled brat ;) Rather than wasting [...] on this product, if your child is just a little older, you may consider buying one of the inexpensive point-and-click cameras, along with a [...]Snug-It silicone case (sold here on Amazon).

Customer Review: Viewer Fuzzy
Summary: 4 Stars

I only turned the camera on to check that it works. My son will not be getting it until his birthday in May. Everything is pretty simple. The only thing that worried me was I couldn't really tell what I was taking a picture of. All I saw in the viewfinder was fuzz. I was also in the house, in a darkened room. The camera instructions will tell you to use it in bright light. The pictures did turn out. I thought the picture quality was fine. I don't think I even had it on high resolution. I believe any enjoyment my son is going to have, outweigh any concerns I may have over the viewfinder. Pictures will not upload to Kodak Easy Share. I had to use the windows photo gallery. I don't have a problem with that. I thought maybe the camera would have its own software, but it does not.

Customer Review: Shutter Button is too Small for kids
Summary: 3 Stars

I got this camera for my son on his second birthday. I normally would be concerned he is too young, however he steals my wife's camera and takes pictures with it all the time. I thought this would be a good solution so he could have his own which wouldn't break but it didn't work out as well as I'd hoped.

Despite being durable and making fun noises, the camera isn't designed well for toddlers because the shutter button is very small and hard to find. If it were larger and on top the camera, like any adult camera, then it would be much better. As it is, my son is more focused with the buttons on the back. He'll have me take the pictures then he'll delete them all the hear the sounds. Maybe he'll grow into more, but to me it seems like an obvious design flaw.

Customer Review: good but they'll make it better
Summary: 4 Stars

The extra memory card that came with this camera was great. It holds over 200 pictures which can take an hour or so for my 4 and 1 year old to fill up. It is easy enough for my 1 year old to use for pictures but the delete button is a little too easy for him, that's probably why it's not recommended for that age. The quality of the pictures is low but that was listed on the box so I didn't expect much more. The only real problem that they need to fix is that the lens is pointed down and if the child uses the view finder, instead of the LCD screen, they will always cut off the top of the picture, usually the head. It took us a little while to teach our son to look at the screen, which is a little dark, but now his pictures are pretty good.
