One son got this last year for Christmas. It was such a popular toy we bought a second one for our other boy. (Ages 3 and 4 now) They play with them endlessly. They have drawn out pirate "battles", they go on adventures together, they crash... it's endless. I've never had the hull come apart (as one other reviewer mentioned) and these ships take quite a bit of heavy play at my house. Nothing has broken off our ships at all. They get carried around in the oddest manners, they get crashed into each other and they've been dropped on concrete. Nothing. After 9 months, they look as good as they did the day we took them out of the package. I highly recommend.Customer Review: Andy's Pirate Ship

I got this for my 2.5 year old grandson, Andy - he loves it. The toy is intuitive, colors are bright and appealing, and there's lots of imagination that went into the design and "play" of this toy. From the time we took it out of the carton to the time that all of the pieces were available from the box for him to touch and hold, he was putting the pieces just where they belonged. My daughter recommended one of the two of these toys - either the castle or the pirate ship - and she was right: what a great toy! I bought this toy on the recommendations of a co-worker, who purchased it for her grandsons. I gave it to my grandson for his 4th birthday. It is the first thing he plays with in the morning and the first toy he goes to when he comes home from daycare. It is always in motion and in everyone's walkways. There was virtually no assembly required, so he did not have to sit patiently while it was put together before he could play with it. It is durable and has seen many rough seas since arriving at his house. The imagination and role playing that this toy has fostered is amazing. I bought this for my nephews (2 1/2 mo & almost 4 yrs old) for Christmas. Out of all the gifts they received, this was their absolute favorite! They did not stop playing with it all night and even into the next morning after they got more gifts from Santa. I would absolutely recommend this to any Aunt or Uncle out there looking to score big points with their nephew(s)..lol I actually couldn't help playing with it myself. The best part is there was no assembly required. It was ready to play with the second the kids opened the box. Nice colors, durable (nice weight to it), and of course...fun.

We bought this pirate ship in October 2007, and haven't had any of the problems with it coming apart that some earlier reviewers mentioned. (Perhaps the 2007 version is improved?) We're actually very happy with this toy--it is very well designed, with just the right balance between functionality and durability. There are lots of things to do (raise/lower the sails, the anchor, fire the canons three different ways, etc.), and everything works well and holds up to the normal amount of abuse that a four-year-old and his 2-year-old brother can dish out. One of our kids' favorite toys, and one of ours as well.
