Very few of my 3 1/2 year old sons toys do I envision worthy and durable enough to get passed down to his children.....but this one has a lot of neat functions as the other reviewers noted, and in my opinion is very solid and durable.....and requires NO BATTERIES!!! The only complaint is that the box did not highlight all the cool things it does, nor did it come with directions, so I am just finding out bit by bit all the little things it can do (i.e. the pirates armor is removable, the cannon balls can launch one at a time or all three together out either side of the ship doors). I wish I had a 3, 4, or 5 year old boy to buy for this holiday....this is the toy I would buy....quality toy, great price, and a lot of fun.Customer Review: Best Pirate ship out there

this is my sons second pirate ship and i have to say this one is MUCH better than his previous. with his first one there were so many little pieces to lose and lots of parts that came off on the ship, so my son basically broke it. this one is VERY sturdy, and the pieces have a place somewhere on the ship and it does so much! you can pretend to be having a sword fight on the back of the ship, there are cannons that pop out the side of the ship that fire cannon balls pretty far. there's also an anchor and the sails open and close! not a lot of pieces come off so tehre isn't much to lose. it has wheels on the bottom so it can roll along. this ship has been GREAT for my son. i highly recommend it.Customer Review: Wonderful Pirate Ship

We purchased the pirate ship as a gift for our friends' son, who is 5. It came in the wonderful packaging where you don't have to undo anything, you just pull it out of the box and play (the BEST idea EVER!!!). Sam opened it and began playing with it immediately, and our 5-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter joined right in. The pirate ship is a great toy and appeals to a variety of ages (and it's not just for boys, girls love it too!). Another of our son's friends has the ship as well, and every time our son's play group meets at that friend's house, the pirate ship is a popular toy. The cannon that actually shoots is probably the best part. I would highly recommend this toy to anyone.Customer Review: Great ship!

We got this for our son's sixth birthday and he loves it! He had a pirate-themed birthday party, so it was the perfect gift. The only slight issue is the center cannon on the triple doesn't fire properly. I called F-P and they were happy to replace it, but the toy has been discontinued and there are no more cannons to be had.
However, I still highly recommend this toy! It has so many cool features and my son (and 8.5 year old daughter) love playing with it. I love it because it uses all imagination and no batteries!!!
The other thing we LOVED about this as parents is the frustration-free packaging. It's the BEST! Easy on you and very easy on the environment.

This has been THE toy since my son's 3rd birthday. He's entranced by different aspects of it. From using the cannons to fire to hiding the treasure to using all the "action points" on the boat itself.
If I have any quibbles, they are minor. I wish there were more pirate action figures (three's two), though with a three-year old's imagination, dinosaurs have become part of the crew. I was also thrown at first as to what the red balloon looking items were before noticing on the box that they were for the cannons.
I'm a bit surprised that some of the reviews have mentioned the lack of sturdiness of the product. It seems put together fine to me.
