Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher-Price I Can Play Piano SystemCustomer Review: Piano Playing and Video Games in One!!! Summary: 4 Stars
My 6.5 year old daughter received this piano as an impulsive gift from Santa after she requested a real piano. Unsure of whether or not she truly wanted to learn how to play the piano, I opted to buy something much smaller and more affordable than a baby grand! It has turned into a huge hit. She is learning key placement and understanding notes. We have four cartridges that she uses to mix up the games and songs. When her friends come over, they are immediately drawn to it and ask to play as well. Some of the games even allow for two players which makes it very user friendly for playdates.
Customer Review: Very Disappointed Summary: 1 Stars
We purchased this for my 6 year old who is very music oriented. She loves her toy keyboard, and plays lots of video games (lik vsmile) so we thought this would be a good fit.
We were very disappointed in the quality of the software, and my daughter was finished with it in about 15 mintues. She didn't even like the freeplay feature, because it had annoying background music.
This toy is definitely not worth the price, it's very poor quality. Also, the notes hardly matched up with the song, so you didn't even feel like you were learning the melody.
Customer Review: Not a good learning system Summary: 2 Stars
We just gave this to our kids today for Christmas. We were very excited about it and then very disappointed. Connecting it was fine. The hardware is fine. When it came to actually LEARNING it wasn't exactly easy to understand. My husband plays piano and I've dabbled in it, but we can not figure out how a child will learn ANYTHING by playing with this toy. It's more like a video game and not a piano teaching system.
If your goal is to have a way for your kids to learn on their own and actually come away with some knowledge, this is not the way to go.
Customer Review: Not a teaching tool, just a game...then it stopped working. Summary: 2 Stars
Santa brought this gift for Christmas and my 5 and 6 year old girls started to play the games right away. The games are easy but it doesn't teach piano skills or musical notes. It is simply a game that has a keyboard instead of a joystick. There is nothing about his toy that will teach a child about music or how to read music. Then it stopped working after only three days and now it is going back to the store. I'm not sure if I will get another because I have read several other reviews about this item and how it has stopped working after a couple of days.
Customer Review: I CAN PLAY PIANO Summary: 1 Stars
It's a great concept IF it would last longer than a month. We acutally purchased one at Target and it didn't work 'right out of the box'. There were none to be found to replace it at the local dept stores, thus used Amazon. We were very pleased it was available, and it shipped very, very quickly. This was good as the grandkids were anxious to play it. However, I was told this past weekend that this one from Amazon had now 'quit', so disappointed grandkids again. So, I'd be interested if there's a poor performance history on this item nationally??
