Customer Review: Broken upon arrival and bad customer service!

I purchased the Better Batter Baseball Toy for my son's birthday. He opened it a week ago, we put it together and discovered the tether part was missing. I called the company, explained the problem, and had the tether sent to me. A week AFTER his birthday we received a new tether, added that on, inserted batteries. No go. I called the company again, this time was told to buy alkaline batteries and that would work. We bought the batteries. The toy still does not function.
Then I received an email with instructions to disassemble the toy (which is so difficult, even the company's own assembly directions say to snap it together "you will have to use some force" so imagine trying to get it apart!!! I cannot). And after mailing that back (which requires going to the post office, purchasing a box, and packaging it up) it will take three to four weeks to get a voucher that I can take to a store to buy a new toy! And the voucher cannot be used online, which is how I purchased this toy. This will be a full six weeks after my son's birthday. It will also be late October, which is starting to be too cold to play baseball outside!
The time I have spent on the phone and trying to make this toy work has been consuming. What a stingy company to make me go through the process below to correct the problem. I have ordered toys from other companies like Mindware, where if the toy was broken they immediately shipped a new one out, no questions asked. And they were good quality toys, not cheap plastic that doesn't function.
I am so dissatisfied I will NEVER shop with Mattel again.
