Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher-Price Elmo LiveCustomer Review: ELMO LIVE WAS A HIT Summary: 5 Stars
SHE LOVES IT, What more can I say, Got it for my 3 year old and she sits down in front of him and he just captures her attention and she talks back and laughs with him. Only thing I wish it had was a REMOTE. If it had a remote OMG parents can have more fun playing along with the realistic communication the kid has with elmo. But you have to keep hitting the trigger spots, squeeze his nose, Touch his foot, Touch his back, his belly, i think thats it but the spots are not easy to hit and still enjoy the fun of what he is saying and doing. But besides that She loves him. I think Elmo even Farts which is hilarious to my 3 year old. She laughs so Hard. I worry she may try to put him in the bathtub, so I have to watch her close, (Because Elmo says He needs a BATH) LOL I think I like it as much as she does.
Customer Review: A Must Have for your Elmo Loving Toddler Summary: 4 Stars
Santa brought this to my 2 yr old granddaughter and it was love at first sight. It's like the "real" Elmo is here at our house ready to play whenever she wants. Elmo sings, dances and plays games. He even asks for help when he falls down and then ("very sweetly) says "Thank You"!! We have the original tickle me Elmo as well as the Tickle Me Elmo TX -- neither one of those even compare to Elmo Live. It's in an entire class of its own!!
My only complaint is that there isn't an easy way to turn Elmo off and/or stop him when he starts on one of his long stories (our dog bumped into him and he started telling a very long story that seemed to go on forever!!). You have to pick it up and turn it off on the bottom -- there should be an easier way to shut it down, instead of turning it off completely.
Customer Review: only cute inside the box Summary: 3 Stars
My 16 month old loved the toy when we were in a toy store and the toy kept blowing kisses at him. He did not want to leave the store without it but it was too expensive. I researched online and found it 20 dollars cheaper here on amazon. When the toy finally came and we set it up, we realized that it was much smaller without the box and there wasn't any cushioning to this elmo at all. The fact that it said a lot more things once the tape was removed seemed to scare my son and he didn't want to go near it, though he would watch him from afar. The squeeze nose function is the only thing that attracted him to touch elmo, but he got bored with him very fast and haven't played with him since the first day it came. I love that it's very interactive, but other than the blowing kisses part, it's not a very playful toy.
Customer Review: What was I thinking Summary: 3 Stars
I always go to the negative feedback first when I am looking for some advice. I would rather get the dirt from a product before I get praises of one. I think most negative feedback on this one is pretty acurate.
CONS
Elmo is not a stable toy.
Elmo mechanical function is rather loud and does muffle the audio.
Elmo does have a tendacy to fall over on other than hard surfaces.
Elmo has a thin outer fur over mechanical inside, leaving the toy vulnerable to damage.
Elmo is a toy to be watched and not played with
Elmo does not have any educational vaule to it.
Elmo price does not match the performance
PROS
Elmo movement with words are pretty dead on.
Elmo does perform well on hard surfaces.
Elmo is an adorable muppet to most.
Customer Review: Elmo broke after 2 days of play! Summary: 2 Stars
My family was very charmed by Elmo and my 20 month old daughter was thrilled to watch and interact with him. I'm not sure that Fisher Price intended children to pick him up, though! Everything was fine for the first day and then my daughter picked him up while he was talking and now there is a loud clicking sound whenever he moves his mouth or neck (we can't tell). She never slammed him down or anything, merely picked him up! I'm going to have to contact Fisher Price to see about getting a replacement.
The thing is so cute and it's such a shame it broke so soon! I hope the manufacturer understands that children are bound to pick Elmo up and that he needs to be sturdy. We never had any problems with our Tickle Me Xtreme or Hokey Pokey Elmos (yes, we have 2 other Elmos ha ha).
