Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher-Price Elmo LiveCustomer Review: Can't get enough of Elmo! ^_^ Summary: 5 Stars
Elmo is cute enough as a stuffed friend for kids, but when you make him tell stories, laugh and sing, omg, he is the most adorable thing ever! We bought this for our 2 year old granddaughter and she has SO much fun watching him, but notice how I mentioned "watching" him. This isn't the kind of toy you want to give a child that likes to carry them around. Elmo needs to sit on his little stool (which is not attached to him). He stands up and sits down and crosses his legs, all things that you cannot allow him to do if you are carrying him due to constriction of his movement and a possible break of a gear. He's a wonderful toy, but one that should only be bought to be put on a high shelf (for little ones) or on a table (for older ones that know not to pick him up). Elmo was one of the biggest hits of our family Christmas this year and I'd recommend him to anyone who has an Elmo fan in their home. :)
Customer Review: Elmo is so much fun! Summary: 4 Stars
We purchased Elmo as a Christmas gift for my son (22 months old) and he fell in love the moment he opened the box! A week later, and he still walks over to Elmo to make him dance, tell stories, jokes, etc. He just adores this toy. My son laughs and says random words back to Elmo. That alone was worth the $58 for me! Of course as a parent, it is easy to get tired of Elmo telling the same jokes and stories, but this toy was not to make me happy, it was to make my son happy-- and it does the trick! We have not had any problems with Elmo tipping over, but he is always used on the hardwood floor. My son has picked Elmo up to give him hugs, and loves to touch his hands, nose, and feet, but this has not caused any damage. Long term I am not sure how Elmo will hold up because he does seem a bit delicate, but this first week with Elmo has been great! I would recommend this toy to any Elmo lover!
Customer Review: Great entertainment! Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter had seen Elmo in different shops and was always drawn to him, but never heard him speak, so was a little worried that he would scare her when she heard him for the first time, but she just laughed! Panic over!
She hasn't quite figured out that other parts of his body have "pressy buttons" so at the moment, we hear the 2 stories over and over again as she keeps pressing his foot...
When we get to press the buttons, it's always the belly first so Elmo dances...this is so funny to watch as she dances and jumps up and down like crazy with him.
Other reviewers have commented about hearing the noise of the mechanics of Elmo, and yes, you do hear some whirring, but it's not off-putting, and you soon ignore it...
All in all, am glad we now have a new addition to the family, Elmo is really good fun, both for young and old alike.
Customer Review: Not a great toy- Not what expected Summary: 2 Stars
We are on our second Elmo Live, as the first one stopped working randomly after two days... (it would start talking and then stop mid sentence...)- Now after a few weeks (of less than average play), this one is doing the same. What is up with that?!... It is difficult for a child to pretend with this toy, because it talks SO much (it is very loud and gets really annoying quick too!- "Can you help Elmo up please" will become a very frequent sound in your house, as the toy falls over ALL the time!). We appreciate our family member for getting this toy (as our 19 month old son is a huge Elmo fan...)- but he really has not given this toy too much of a second glance after the first day. For the money, this toy is not worth it. It was a good thought, and really is pretty cool if you are just watching it work for 5-10 minutes, but thats about it.
Customer Review: My kid is scared of it Summary: 2 Stars
My son is 21 months old, and he loves Elmo. When he sees Elmo on TV, he always wants to hug the TV. He has other stuffed Elmos that he always carries around and hugs. However, this Elmo Live completely scares him. I think it is the lifelike movement. I know every child is different, but this thing completely freaks mine out.
The problem with this toy is that it is way too LOUD. The voice is too loud and the gears grinding are much too loud. There is no volume control.
Additionally, the phrases and jokes and movements are so repetitive. I've been trying to get it to do different things just to see if there is anything about this toy that my son enjoys, and I've failed.
My son likes this toy best when Elmo is silent. But I don't need to spend $60 on an Elmo that isn't even all that soft.
