While watching his grandpa assemble a wooden rocking horse, my one-year old grandson became captivated by his father's yellow Dewalt drill. Afterward, he constantly pointed to the drill and would sit quietly while grandpa operated the drill for him. We looked on Amazon for toy drills and decided the Fisher-Price Drillin' Action Tool Set was the best item available. My daughter beat me to making the Amazon purchase - Santa Claus was putting this toy under the Christmas tree.
Two months later on Christmas morning, one happy little boy got his own yellow drill that was just like daddy's. He immediately took the drill to grandpa for instruction and, although his hand was a little small, managed to master making the drill "go." He was eventually able to put the drill bit into the phillips head screws and "drill" them down into the holes which are in the toolbox. He is happily using the hammer to fix the kitchen cabinets after he "tightens" the screws holding the hinges.
Fisher-Price has produced a toy drill that closely resembles a real power tool, both in form and function. This gives adults an opportunity to teach small children about using tools correctly; it also gives children a sense of accomplishment when they "fix" something.
This toy is well-made and appears to be quite sturdy. All the edges are smooth and finished nicely. If your little one is fascinated by power tools, you cannot go wrong purchasing Fisher-Price's Drillin' Action Tool Set.
