Customer Review: Racetrack not played with as often as I expected

The racetrack was received in time and well packed, in a huge box with adequate packaging around the toy.
My grandson, 20 months old, has played with it a fair amount but it doesn't really hold his attention like other items, such as building blocks or toys that require his imagination. The lever that is pushed down to start each race has to be pushed hard enough to start the cars, but not so hard that they go down the tracks in a crooked manner.If not done just right the cars get out of place and there is no race, just a couple of skidding vehicles.
Personally, I am tired of every toy produced needing to make noise and "do" something. Children need to have input in their play and not be passive observers. This toy will stay in his playroom at our home, but I doubt it will ever be a favored toy. He likes the toys that require pretend play, such as the play kitchen and grill, pots and pans and pretend food. Books are also big favorites and I am glad to see that he is starting to want the 'silent' ones, not the ones that 'do' things or have buttons to push for each page, making noises and sounding like car horns or babies crying! I know I sound like a typical grandparent, not up to date with the new electronic toys and devices. I just know children need a warm body to play with or read to them, not a cold toy to sit and watch.
This toy does have some chatter and noise with it (and I DO think those toys have a place in a child's play) but it seems to be more irritating in this instance. There is only one thing that is says, over and over and over....
