Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Rock-a-StackCustomer Review: My Baby Preferred the Simple Classic Summary: 4 Stars
My 9 month old has been playing with this stacker since he was 6 months old. This is a simple, classic toy that's easy to clean in a sink full of soap and water. My son's teething so everything gets chewed on and drooled on. He has a a more expensive stacker with blinking lights and music that doesn't hold his interest for quite as long. The fancy stacker has star shaped "rings" that were heavier and harder for little hands to grip. I think the key to this Fisher Price Rock-A-Stack is the tapered shaft that allows for easy ring removal and the light weight rounded rings that's easy to grip. Also, the red ring with the silver interior is a rattle, which my son enjoys. The base has a curved bottom so the tower will rock before it topples. I guess that's why classics never go out of style.
Customer Review: Blue Dye Turned Baby BLUE Summary: 1 Stars
My daughter was playing with the blue ring from this toy this morning, and I was horrified when I saw that her entire mouth was BLUE. I took the toy away from her, and immediately called Fisher Price. It is Saturday, and they are closed, but I did look at their website and saw there was no mention of the blue dye coming off these rings. I looked at other websites, however, and saw lots of pictures of babies whose skin has turned blue from these blue rings. These people stated they had called Fisher Price on the matter, but that Fisher Price has refused to recall the product. Please do not buy this product for your kids. Fisher Price says the paint is non-toxic, but that doesn't make it okay! Paint- toxic or not is NOT okay to eat. Do NOT buy this toy!!!
Customer Review: A must have baby classic toy, they love it! Summary: 5 Stars
I got this for my baby when she was 7 months, she didn't know how to put the rings onto the column but she surely knew how to remove them and that was and still very amusing for her. If i wanted her to be quite for a while, I would just put the rings in place and put the toy in front of her, she cannot resist going to the toy and start removing the rings then play with them.. Few months later, when she learned how to put the rings, the toy became even more amusing and is still one of her favorite. She is now 11 months.
Also it helps me teach her the different colors and sizes when I say now put the smaller ring, or now put the yellow ring.... etc.
The price is really good and the toy is durable.
Highly recommended!
Customer Review: This product is dangerous... Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this toy for my 6 1/2 month old. He is able to sit up on his own, however, like any other baby, he does fall over in all directions. So, when I gave him this toy to play with he was very amused by it and was thoroughly enjoying it, especially being able to CHEW the rings. Then I noticed that he could fit the yellow cylinder (attached to the base that you stack the rings onto) all the way into his mouth. So I was concerned for his safety that if he fell forward he could lodge it into his throat and obstruct his airway. I have contacted fisher-price and they are picking up the toy from my house for a full refund. I think you should not buy this for a baby that doesn't sit completely stable on his/her own, maybe not until 8 or 9 months old.
Customer Review: My son LOVES this toy Summary: 5 Stars
My 1-year old loves loves loves this toy. Not the stacking part of it, but the individual rings. He loves to put them on our kitchen floor, or other hard floor surfaces and watch them spin or "wobble". His favorite is the orange ring. When we first received this as a gift, I figured it was so simple and it wouldn't get much use... but he's been in love with the rings since around 6 months. Even after he receives new toys, he still will go back to his orange ring! Now that he's just turned 1, he's starting to understand the stacking concept, and now uses the toy for it's actual purpose. This has kept him entertained more than any other toy. I'd recommend this toy just for it's simplicity - babies seem to like those the best. Highly recommend.
