Customer Review: Amazing Longevity

I do not normally like to purchase electronic type toys for my children (both for the sake of their developing attention span and for my own sanity) but my now-four-year-old daughter received this as a gift when she was less than a year old. I have to admit that it's been a favorite at our house. Underneath the star, there's a button so that when the star is pushed down, the toy plays a few classical songs. A knob near the top lets out a chime whenever a ring/star is put on or taken off.
Pros:
It's extremely durable: It's lasted through my first child and is now coming out unscathed from my second child and all their friends. No tender treatment, either.
Great Battery life: I think I've replaced the batteries once or twice over four years.
Great music: Of all the electronic music toys, this one has never driven me crazy. Has about five or so classical tunes (the Blue Danube, Twinkle Twinkle, etc.) with good rhythms.
Interesting: This is one of two toys that my children have enjoyed playing with even as very young babies. The flashing lights do a great job of making the toy magical, even for their new, developing eyes. It continues to interest my children for a couple years.
Educational: Children learn coordination while taking the rings off and on, and later learn organization while putting in order from biggest to smallest.
Cons:
Volume: The toy has no volume button, and the noise is rather loud. It's on the upper end of tolerable volume.
Power: There is no on/off switch. This toy is always "on", so if it gets bumped, it usually "chimes."
Star: The top star doesn't really stay on and my children have never really enjoyed playing with it. The star is too bulky and cumbersome for little fingers. It just usually stays off. I think they should just make a cute button on the top.
