Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Baby's First BlocksCustomer Review: Baby loves different shapes and colors of blocks, but... Summary: 4 Stars
The only complaint that I have with this toy is that the lid sits on top of the toy instead of snapping on. Since the day we got this toy, my baby takes the lid off with the greatest of ease and plays with the blocks. She loves them! Dumping them out, chewing, banging, throwing-it's literally the first toy she goes for when placed in front of a bunch of different toys. I try holding the lid on with a finger to try and get her to sort, but it's not going to happen when she knows the lid comes off! It becomes more of a fight with me trying to keep the lid on and her trying to rip it off.
Customer Review: Why can't the lid lock on?! Summary: 2 Stars
So far, mostly all my 15 month old son has done with this toy is dump all the pieces out. Sometimes he puts the pieces back, but certainly not with the lid on. Why doesn't FP make it possible to lock the lid on so he can spend some time trying the different shapes holes instead of just tearing the lid off (even when I try to hold the lid on)? If the shapes are different colors, why didn't FP color coordinate the shape holes?
I'm giving this product two stars because there are pairs of the different shapes and he likes to pick up the matching pairs and bang them together.
Customer Review: Many made in China Summary: 3 Stars
We received this as a Christmas present. The lid, as stated by many reviewers, does not stay on, but my son loves it nonetheless. After reading some of the other comments, I just called Fisher Price. The customer service rep explained to me that this toy is manufactured "overseas." When I asked her to specify, she said this toy is made in many locations, which include China and Mexico. She said I would need to look at the bottom of the toy I own and it would be stamped on there. I will have to check ours when I get home, but thought I would share this info.
Customer Review: His favorite toy! Summary: 5 Stars
This is such an inexpensive, simple toy, yet it is hands down my 9 month old's favorite toy! If he starts crawling away from us all we have to do is put the blocks back in the bucket and shake it around and he just has to come over and dump them all out. He is starting to get that the pieces go in the holes, but mostly he just crawls around holding either the yellow lid or a block in each hand. He also loves to put the blocks into the little "slide" made for balls in another toy we have. Miraculously, with my son and 2 dogs, we have not lost a block yet!
Customer Review: Entertaining toy Summary: 5 Stars
My 8 month old daughter enjoys playing with this toy that she got 1 month ago. It's true that the lid comes off easily, and that's the first thing she discovered. I set the blocks down in front of her and she takes the lid off and proceeds to take the blocks out. She also likes banging the blocks together, and chewing them. She can occupy herself with the toy for 10-20 minutes on her own. I'm sure as she gets older she will begin to use it a sorting toy (I've been showing her how it works, and she likes watching me put the blocks through their holes).
