Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher-Price Baby Playzone: Pull Up Ball BlastCustomer Review: Not weighted enough to Pull Up on... Summary: 4 Stars
Recently purchased this for my 9 month old daughter. She's mastered pulling up on things for past two months, yet this is quite wobbly to pull up on. Base should be more weighted. Tips over easily when pulling up, which given the name of the toy, is meant to be pulled up on, so would think it would be more weighted at the bottom. The balls are awkward for her to pick up, and she cannot hold them in one hand. Assembly was a little tricky. On the plus side, the music is cute and different. Seems like a nice toy to sit on the floor and play with my daughter with, as long as I drop the balls in there. The music and watching the balls go down amuses her. But she really can't pick up the balls to play with this herself. For now is just something else for her to pull up on, but have to be careful that it's not near a wall or her crib so she doesn't hurt herself when she pulls the toy down on herself. Seems best as a toy to play with together with your child. I think she will enjoy it more when her hands grow more and can pick up the balls and do it herself.
Customer Review: Gets Better With Time Summary: 4 Stars
When I first got this toy for my one year-old daughter, she played with it some, but didn't seem particularly entranced. However, after just a few days she warmed up to it, and now it's one of her favorite toys. Several times every day she will will actively play with it, spending quite a bit of time hitting the music button and dropping things down the chute. She quickly learned that other things, not just the balls, can be dropped inside. Fortunately, wedged toys are easily removed, so this is not a problem. Even when my baby is playing with other toys, she frequently drops by the Ball Blast to turn on the music or drop something into it. I was kind of disappointed with the toy at first, (it just seemed like it should "do" more than it does) but time has proven it to be an engaging and durable toy. I rotate my daughter's toys so she doesn't get bored with them, but this is one which she never seems bored with. I think this is something she is going to enjoy playing with for at least a couple of years. I'm definitely glad I got this for her.
Customer Review: Great for infants and toddlers! Summary: 4 Stars
My 9-month-old daughter and her 20-month-old cousin both absolutely love this toy! We got the Stand Up Ball Blast as a gift when our daughter was about 7 months old, and she loves to pull up on it. It is suprisingly sturdy!
Now, she's learned to press the blue face when she wants to see the lights and hear the music. She has also learned how to push the balls through the top, watch them roll down the track, and bend down to pick them up when they come out of the bottom. This toy has taught her how to balance, as well as cause and effect.
The only down side is that it uses batteries very quickly. The first set of batteries we put in it only lasted about 2 months, and she doesn't even play with it for more than 30 minutes each day (she's in daycare during the weekdays, so she's not at home with this toy). Of course, it is also a large toy, which may be a problem for people with a limited amount of space.
All in all, this is a very good toy. It keeps both a 9-month-old and 20-month-old entertained with no problem. Sounds great to me!
Customer Review: Seems Good So Far.... Summary: 5 Stars
I almost didn't buy this toy, based on the reviews that it was hard to put together, and was not good for pulling up. I ended up buying it because it seemed like the best toy overall of it's type. It wasn't as hard to put together as I had anticipated, but you do have to follow the instructions very closely ( something I'm not so good at). You also have to make sure the yellow track snaps into the grooves of the orange center piece for it to fit right. Anyway, my 1 year old loves it so far. We have not had any problems with her pulling up on it. She is beginning to stand up without pulling up, so maybe she doesn't put as much weight on it. The base seems plenty wide, although making it heavier would probably solve any potential problems with it falling over. I am also worried about some other reviewers experiences with their children getting their ams/hands stuck in this, so we pay extra attention to what she doing while she is playing with it, but so far we've only had positive experiences with this toy, and she absolutely loves it.
Customer Review: Great Toy but needs more balls Summary: 5 Stars
This is a fun toy for my twelve month old. He really enjoys putting the balls in it. He also puts in other things, like DUPLO blocks. However, a couple of warnings... First of all, assembly is definitely required. I had to wait until my son was asleep before I was able to put it together, and it took at least fifteen minutes. Second of all, there are only five balls. There should be at least fifteen. Balls constantly roll under the sofa or my baby carries them off. I bought the 200 pack of Fisherprice balls, but they were too big and didn't fit. Since the five balls are constantly getting lost he can't play with this toys until I retrieve them, and that defeats the my purpose of buying this as a toy that will keep his attention while I am busy. Also, don't buy this toy until your kid has enough balance because this toy won't support him if he is using it to keep himself up. An eight month old came to visit and the ball blast wanted to topple on him--but I got this when my kid was ten months, and he was fine.
