Toys and Games Reviews of Fascinations Antworks Illuminated Ant Farm

Customer Review: Antworks was a hit!
Summary: 5 Stars

Our 2 girls aged 4 and 6, got this for Christmas. The first time we ordered the ants they did arrive dead but then we ordered again and got them in two days at no extra charge (last time it was about a week) and only one was dead. It has been really neat to watch them. They only brought one dead one up to the surface though so at this time we have a lot of dead ants but it has been 4 months and we still have a few still alive. When they are all dead we may put some from outside in or order another batch to see what happens since the tunnels are already made. This has been a lot of fun though and we even brought it to my 4 yr old's school for her classmates to see. Plus their friends that come over have wanted to see them.

Customer Review: So Cool!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was glad I read other reviews first. I made sure to order my ants from somewhere besides antsalive. I ordered regular mail from Edmund Scientific (form in kit). I placed my order on Monday and Wednesday the ants arrived at my door! The whole family is enjoying watching the ants build their tunnels. You are supposed to put a few holes with the tool to get them started. I only recommend you make their "starter" holes near the plastic walls. It didn't say this in the directions and if they aren't near the walls you can't see them through the gel. Also, although some of the ants were dead on arrival (normal), there were way more than 30 in the shipment, so it made up for the dead ants.

Customer Review: Any Farm
Summary: 3 Stars

This was fun at first, but a lot of the ants died right after we got them. They wouldn't dig around very much either. My granddaughter enjoyed the farm for a week or so and when the ants died she was not happy. Her mom got her a hamster which she takes care of and likes a lot better.

Customer Review: Antworks Ant Farm is a Second Grade HIt
Summary: 4 Stars

I am a Second Grade Teacher. I bought a similar ant farm for my classroom last year because we read a story called Ant in our text book. After reading all of the interesting facts about different kinds of ants, it is great fun for the students to get to observe live ants in action. This year's ant farm was no exception. The kids love it! I am happy to provide this experience for them. My only worry it that the Harvester ants which sting might escape! But the unit has a snug lid!

Customer Review: Fun and educational for everyone
Summary: 5 Stars

My 7-year-old son got one of these a few months ago for his birthday. Once the ants came we all (his little sister, too)) learned so much just by reading the booklet that came with the ant farm and watching these amazing creatures. I ordered this one for my husband for Valentine's Day because he wanted one for his office so he could watch them there, too--now I wonder how much work he'll get done!
