We bought this game (and others from the same designer) because we wanted cooperative games represented for our 3 year old girl. She enjoys the typical games for her age (Candyland, etc), but we wanted something cooperative and something that encouraged some strategic thinking.
Roundup fit the bill admirably. She loves the idea of rescuing horses, and over time I've seen her start to make decisions based on thinking ahead to what's best for the game (moving a horse a head in case a rock comes down to block it, for example).
It's also possible for a particular game setup to be unwinnable, so that you don't rescue all the horses. For me, helping her to realize that you don't need to win the game to have fun is an important part of a non-competitive game.
Overall, I'd highly recommend this game for anyone looking for something different for their toddlers.
Description of Cooperative Game for Cowgirls and Cowboys, Round-Up
The horses have been running wild on the range! Our job is to round up as many as we can and bring them back to the Ranch Corral. Maybe some are in the Box Canyons. Maybe some are grazing along the Trail. As we ride out, we'll have to get some Lassoes and Binoculars and watch out for Falling Rocks! They can block up a Trail and leave a beautiful horse trapped.We will have to work together as a team, sharing our equipment and talking over our Ideas. Because of the random setup, each game is a new adventure. Maybe this is why parents enjoy it too. Happy Trails, pardners, and have a good Round-up!

Play as friends, not as enemies! Our games foster the spirit of co-operation. Players help each other climb a mountain, make a community, bring in the harvest, complete a space exploration... They are never against each other.
Round Up is another cooperative game from Family Pastimes. Each player works for the same ranch and must cooperate with the other players in order to find and collect five lost horses. The board contains 26 spaces, each covered by one of 26 randomly distributed, face-down cards. During a turn, a player can turn over any card to reveal either a horse, a tool, or a rock. Rocks are obstacles that block a horse's path to the corral, and can only be removed by tools. Players must share tools and work together to decide on a search strategy to return all five horses to the corral and win the game. --Mike Fehlauer
