My wife and I have been playing Scrabble for years now, and I wanted to get another good two person game for us to play. I stumbled across this in a catalogue after giving up on various game and toy stores, which seemed to be filled with things that I wouldn't consider actual games (mostly touchy-feely "sharing" games like "What Would Jesus Do?" and "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus- The Game"). "Wordthief" is actually a fun *game*, and a good edition to the Scrabble like repertoire.It's a nice combination of card games (in that suits matter, and keeping track of which cards have been dealt, and which remain- a handy letter/suit index is provided- actually can be important) and word games like Scrabble. Unlike Scrabble, however, there is no chance to "dump" your letters, so a bad letter draw can be even more frustrating.
We also played this this past weekend with my sister, and I think the 3-person game is a little bit more interesting than even the 2-person game, in that the word-stealing strategy becomes a bit more important and prominent part of the game.
Overall, I like it a lot and would highly recommend it.

Both me and my wife are wordgame enthusiasts but have stuck with our long time favorites like Scrabble, Quiddler and Boggle for a while now. Finally ventured into Wordthief since it seemed interesting and we are definitely glad we did. Splitting, stealing and 'locking' words form the core of this game and all of them really make you think and dig quite deep into your well of words. The rules aren't written too well(some more examples of the probable scenarios would have been helpful) and so we had to try playing it a couple of different ways. But once we got the hang of it, the game was roaring fun. Its fun analyzing the words to see how to split or steal them and the rules have been designed well to make things quite fair.
Definitely addictive once you start playing. But as another reviewer mentioned, 3 or 4 players makes it a lot more fun than 2.

I recently played this game at a friend's house and I just love it! There were 4 of us playing and I think it's just great. There aren't too many card games that adults can enjoy, but this one is at the top of my list. This game is a cross between Scrabble and Rummikube and I think it's fantastick! Even though it is for 2-4 players, I think it would be more fun and enjoyable with 3 or 4 players. There are more words down on the table that you have a chance to steal, rather than stealing just the other players' words if there were only 2 players. For my family, this is the board game of choice! When we gather together for family holidays we look forward to spending the evening with Wordthief. I think it can best be described as a combination of Scrabble and Hearts. Letter cards have points and trump values, and words can be formed and stolen throughout the game. There is a lot of satisfaction from stealing a word and then forming 4 or 5 words from the stolen word! Your opponent loses the points from the word and you get (sometimes) get to multiply your points dramatically!Customer Review: Great game for the whole family!

My entire extended family just loves this game. We play it with the kids since you are able to play at your own skill level. The young ones, who are eight and eleven, use words from their vocabulary while learning from the adults. The kids just love to steal the words from the adults! They are so proud of themselves. And we're proud of them too! It's a great way to bring the generations together.
