We purchased this set (and the two companion sets- the Kings and the Inn) directly from Fisher Price for our 2.5 year old this Christmas. She loved this set. We brought it out just after Thanksgiving and she rapidly learned who all the key players were and would beg us to tell the story again and again so she could act it out with her little people. It kept my big nativity safe! She loved rearranging the animals and then lining up all the people and animals to come to "see the baby" when the angel started to sing. Baby Jesus went everywhere with us-- he went to the grocery store and to Christmas eve Mass too-- she really loved this set! Our 6 month old also enjoyed the set, mostly he chewed on the goat-- but it kept him happy!
Like all Little People, this set is sturdy and seemingly indestructible. The singing angel has a power switch in case you can't take one more round of "Away in a Manger" right now too. Don't forget the batteries (3AA) or you'll miss out on the sound and lights that really catch my kids attention. The backdrop is pretty big and she didn't really seem to care about it being there, but it did make the scene look nice when she wasn't playing with it. She really did like the palm tree fences though to corral all the animals.
Overall, we were thrilled with this set. Our daughter cried when I packed it away at the end of the holidays and I can't wait to bring it out next year and continue a great Christmas tradition.
