Toys and Games Reviews of Sea Monkeys And AquariumCustomer Review: The Reviewer reviews again (A 12 year old) Summary: 4 Stars
I don't own a sea monkey yet, but since I'm packed up on information from all who wrote a review. Yes I read all of them. Some were quite intresting. Okay back to business. I can tell this is immediately reccommended to children who are not allowed to have pets or kids who are allergic to furry pets, like me. The sea monkeys are itty bitty at first, then with the Plasmal 3 (I think thats what its called) they grow bigger in a couple of seconds, I presume or its a couple of minutes, huh. Oh well, the sea monkeys are very fast swimmers and thay don't like the diamond rocks. They fight over who gets the girl sea monkey. I don't think this kinda of true but they're cute. And the kit isn't all that good because it doesn't have all the good tools, and do not try to stick a straw down the aquarium and blow or you will get some sea monkey aphlea down your throat. (The person who said that I hope your okay)
Customer Review: The BEST PET OUT THERE! Summary: 5 Stars
Before I start, This is from a 13 year old's point or view. The whole Sea-Monkey experience for me has been AMAZING! Though it could be more durable, it doesn't mean it's not FUN! I mean I'm not saying it's NOT durable! It totally is! Anyhow...With the Ocean Of Light, you can watch you Sea-Monkeys at ANY time of day! (or night for that matter)You can order color filters that change the color of the light, and you can even perform TRICKS with your Sea-Monkeys! The best part of the whole experiecne is how EASY they are to take care of! You only feed them ONCE A WEEK! There is NO end to the fun! I have 3 tanks of Sea-Monkeys and they NEVER stop amazing me! It's a great summer activity too! While I'm out of school, I am starting my whole Sea-Monkey world over again! (Last time I kinda forgot to feed them...A LOT!) Best of luck to YOU on your educational Sea-Monkey Journeys!
Customer Review: Sea Monkeys Are Over Rated Summary: 1 Stars
We were very disappointed with this kit. We followed the instructions exactly. We used purified water, temp control, lighting, aerating the water, feeding etc. When the sea monkeys "hatched", we could barely see them. But after a few days they got bigger and we were getting excited. We had about 30 of them. Then by day seven, all but two of them died! If you are going to buy this, get the air pump ahead of time. Maybe that will help. The light also burns out quickly because it is battery operated. They make these creatures out to be like little people. The fact is, they are very small, fragile and much more care taking is involved than expected. I would gladly do it if the little creatures would live long enough to get some enjoyment. The guarantee is also only for replacement, which requires you to send them a shipping fee! I don't want to bother with it.
Customer Review: Very Tiny and Hard to Keep Alive Summary: 1 Stars
Our sea monkeys died within the first week. We followed the instructions very carefully. My son was so excited at first but he could barely see them. So he lost interest quickly. I stayed with it because I was so interested. I recommend getting the air pump right from the start. Maybe that would help keep them alive. We followed the book by pouring the water into another glass jar to create oxygen bubbles. I was so careful but they started dying after that. There are a lot of extra things to purchase to have more sucess. The water gets very dirty and because they are so small, you can't change it. So you really need to buy the stuff to clean it. These creatures are too tiny and hard to keep alive. And because they are so small, it's hard to see them fight or do anything else interesting. I recommend another type of pet.
Customer Review: Wow, it takes me back to my childhood!!! Summary: 5 Stars
My 6 year old got a gift certificate for Xmas and used it to purchase her first set of Sea Monkeys (with a little coaxing from her mom). I remember when I had these as a child,, they never grew then, but WOW how they have changed. We emptied the packet into the water on Dec 28th and they have been growing ever since (today is 4/9/01). We have had a great time together watching them grow. It has been a great help in teaching my daughter about "reproduction". They seem to run in a cycle, once they get big and have babies, they pass away and the babies grow up and have babies,, it is really neat to keep track of them. I recommend these to children of ALL ages. I even bought a second set for my desk at work,, my co-workers are facinated by them,, but,, don't tell my daughter ;o)
