Toys and Games Reviews of Kismet Board GameCustomer Review: Kismet rocks - here's a little variation to spice it up! Summary: 5 Stars
I've been playing Kismet at my friend's house since childhood, what a great game! They recently taught me an an easy way to spice up the game... and add to the strategy required to WIN! Here it is:
Each game sheet has columns for six games. Instead of playing one game at a time, you can play 3X or 6X. Obviously, each is a longer time commitment that the other.
Say you're playing Kismet 3X - you play three games all at once. When you're finished, the Game 1 column score remains as is (x 1); multiply the game 2 column score by 2 (x2); and multiply the game 3 column score by 3 (x3). THEN, add those three totals together - this is your Final Score (could be in the range from 1500 - 3000 points or so).
The key here is choosing which column to input your different rolls. Obviously, good rolls w/ high scores should fill up your Game 3 column, b/c it's going to end up multiplied by 3. You want to put your poor rolls in the Game 1 column.
Try it, it's fun!
Customer Review: Little different than Yhatzee Summary: 5 Stars
My sister and I played this game every night for about two months. It's almost exactly like the game Yhatzee, but it has colors thrown in. There is a list of sets to get like: three of a kind, all the same color, two pair. After you roll, you pick which dice you want to roll again. You roll a total of 3 times to see if you can get any of the sets. It's so fun because it's so basic. Not a lot of rules to remember. We usually play about 3 games a night. Also good for travel since you really only need the dice and the score cards (maybe the rolling cup). Not good to play when your parents are trying to sleep though! Dice are really loud when rolling them in the cup. Really fun game!
Customer Review: Fun for the whole family Summary: 5 Stars
I have fond memories of playing Kismet with my mom when I was growing up. Now I've purchased games for my husband and I, and also for my two grown children and their families. We have a family high and low score that we are always competing with. It's a great way to hone up on your basic match skills. Even though the age starts at 7, our 5 year old granddaughter can play right along with help and still have a great time just throwing the dice. Not only is it helpful with math, it's also helpful when learning colors. We recently spent a year traveling in our RV and Kismet was our evening ritual after dinner. Beats TV anytime!
Customer Review: Fun for all ages Summary: 5 Stars
I've been playing Kismet for nearly 30 years. My late grandma introduced me to it when I was in elementary school and we used to play it together all the time. It's an easy game to learn and it a great way for kids to get better at addition. Now that I'm a mom, my children and I enjoy playing the game (using our "vintage" set of course!). It's great because it's not too long and doesn't take a huge attention span to play one round (ie it's great for the younger age group). The colored dice add such a great dynamic and make it much more fun than Yahtzee - at least that is concensus at our house.
Customer Review: Outstanding Game Summary: 5 Stars
My family has enjoyed Kismet for many, many years. Its a fun game for all ages. If you have ever played Yahtzee and enjoyed that game, then you will will want to purchase and play Kismet as this game has more challenging throws to role and therefore lets you obtain a higher score than Yahtzee. The dice in Kismet are tri-colored - 3 and 4 (Green) 1 and 6 (Black) 2 and 5 (Red). This allows you to shoot for a Full House Same Color, 2 pair same color, etc. You won't be disappointed. Have Fun and Enjoy!!!!
