All the scopes for kids I saw were not true magnifying outdoor scopes, but cheap plastic toys. My 4 year old loves Diego and wanted to be able to watch for animals (we have birds and bunnies) in our big yard. This fit the bill and stores easily in his pocket. It has been dropped a few times and holds up well.
