Toys and Games Reviews of Educational Insights Math WhizCustomer Review: Great, when it works Summary: 2 Stars
We bought the Math Wiz on Feb. 1st, 2008. It worked just fine at first and our 1st grader enjoyed using the Math Wiz on occasion. This isn't a toy, but really an electronic device for learning basic math factors.
What disappoints us is that after 6-8 months, the Math Wiz stopped working properly. At this point, the only thing we can get it to do is work like a basic calculator. The challenges and timed exercises do not function at all. It was never abused or dropped and still looks brand new. The thing just stopped working right all of a sudden, and now it appears I'm stuck with it in this condition.
Customer Review: great math review for kids who love electronic toys Summary: 5 Stars
if your child loves electronic toys but hates math flashcards, then this is a great gizmo for him. he can select the function, level, and a number to appear in a group of problems. then the machine flashes problems on the screen and times his answers. feels like a handheld video game to him, but he is actually doing math flash cards. my son says he likes it much better than the paper flashcards. he is now reviewing his math facts willingly! totally worth every penny.
only had it a day so cannot comment on durability. ok so far.
Customer Review: Tutor's pride Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased a Math Whiz over 5 years ago to help 3rd graders with their multiplication tables. It was so successful, I looked for more and was not able to locate any. The stores and Kmart (where I purchased it for $8.00) did not carry or were not going to order any more after the Christmas Holiday. My old and relible Math Whiz is still working perfectly after many, many fingers pushed at the buttons. I am so glad I found it once again on line so I could get a couple as a donation to our local school. The students love it.
Customer Review: Worht its weight in gold Summary: 5 Stars
I just got this toy for my 10 yr old who is still not all that with his flash cards and for my first grader to start doing flash cards. Its great it works on so many different skill levels that my 6 year old uses it for begining addition facts and my ten year old then uses it for his timed multiplication and division tables. Its like killing two birds with one stone. And they both love the smiley face for rewards and my ten year old loves that it shows the time it took him because he is always trying to beat his last time.
Customer Review: Worth the Money! Summary: 5 Stars
We have really enjoyed using this for our math drills. The kids like it a lot more than doing drills with flash cards even though it is technically the same thing. My daughter picks it up even in the evenings after our school hours and uses it! It is a great back up to worksheets. Children would much rather relax on the couch or their favorite game chair and run drills on this than be handed another worksheet. Great product! We have had no trouble with ours.
