I wanted a basic, "first-time" kind of microscope for my 6 year old. It isn't very useable. The light shines directly up into eyepiece, renders it useless. The viewer is OK, but fuzzy. The extra pieces were sharp, and not appropriate for young kids, but the actual function as a microscope was nonexistent, so nobody would benefit from this. I wasn't expecting it to be a sophisticated piece of scientific equipment, just a toy, and it still let us down. I can't even give it away, it is so bad. Because I bought it so long before I gave it as a gift, I couldn't return it.
