I had sea monkeys when I was a child, but my mother killed them by adding water from the fish tank- apparently the guppies had laid eggs, and they hatched and ate my pets. So I decided to try again recently. Everything has gone well so far, except that all but one died after I fed them on the fifth day (and I only added half a scoop of food rather than whole, as most websites advise. Too much can kill them as seems to have been my case)- I've mailed in for my replacement eggs, since they have the two year guarantee. It was three dollars shipping, but seeing as I plan to keep them a while I see it as an investment. I also plan to buy some of the extra items for them. Be warned, however- anything you mail in for can take many weeks to arrive as sea monkey extras can only be ordered snail mail, and not even by the sea monkey company. They pay someone else to do it.
(edit) They didn't send me replacement eggs, so I went ahead and ordered The Swarm. Probably would have been easier to just buy a vial of artemia cysts, but it worked out in the end. (The sea monkey company that you mail order from will ONLY take money orders, so that was money down the drain.)
