I thought this toy might be too fragile for a five year old but it was just fine. It has multiple phaser sound controls. One includes the overload which my son will turn on, leave it next to me, then run away as it builds its energy sound then ends with a TV-like sound explosion. We are not tired of blasting each other yet and I hope it never ends.

great reproduction! some star trek phaser reproductions were over-sized and reproduced sounds w/ explosions at the end but this just has the authentic phaser sound effect (explosion excluded). it doesn't last as long as you hold the trigger-it has a preset time it will sound for. it appears to be an exact replica of the one used on the show. very pleased w/ it.Customer Review: Nice Phaser

This is a nice Phaser. The sounds are cool and it looks like the real deal. Its plastic so its not that durable but if you want a better quality phaser you are gonna have to shell out alot of money for the replica metal ones, so if your like me and don't wanna spend hundreds of dollars on a toy this is the phaser for you.Customer Review: Awsome phaser on the cheap

Relatively durable and well-priced original Series phaser replica, full phaser and detachable hand phaser. A very fun phaser replica for its price. A most excellent version of the Original Series phaser. It's a lot of fun to play with. Phaser 1 is a little difficult to remove from Phaser 2 and then to put back in, but it's great still. I greatly enjoy having this product in my Star Trek collection.
