Toys and Games Reviews of Star Trek Enterprise NCC-1701E

Customer Review: A wonderful replica for fans of the movies
Summary: 5 Stars

For anyone who, like me, absolutely fell in love with the Enterprise-E after seeing it in First Contact and subsequently in Insurrection and Nemesis, then you might want this. The whole ship is incredibly detailed with spot-on coloring for the most part. None of the windows are blacked-in as they should be (and are on the Enterprise-D made by Art Asylum) but it doesn't really detract from the look of it, surprisingly. Voices and sounds play and the bussard collectors and main deflector light up when you press the bridge, but there's no way to simply have the lights stay on like there is with the Art Asylum Enterprise-D. The voices and lights are a nice gimmick, but really, if you're going to pay this much for a Star Trek ship, odds are you're buying it for the ship replica, not to go "WHOOOOOSH" with it in the backyard. The balljoint stand is very stable, and you can pose it in several directions, or just straight and normal. For something designed as a toy (what with the sound effects and all), it's a fantastic recreation that's sure to please those who want a detailed and graceful Sovereign-class starship on their desk. It's a little pricey for the casual fan since it's usually 50 or up, but if you're a collector or a diehard fan of TNG, this isn't one to pass up.

Customer Review: Not Perfect...but nicely done
Summary: 4 Stars

Having previously bought the NX-01 and NCC-1701A models by Art Asylum, my expectations were high. Overall I am pleased. The basic shape and details on the toy are well done and correct to the ship as seen in the features. This is especially nice when compred to the two previously released Playmates versions of the same ship, which were horribly inaccurate. So in the areas of sculpting and modeling, this version is superb.

The one area that I was disappointed in was in the paint-job. Some of the colors used seem far too 'contrast-y' compared to the way the model and CGI version appear on screen. When compared with footage from the films, the gray patches on the secondary hull of the toy seem really dark, whereas the film shots show a much more subtle grade of shading overall.

I was also slightly disappointed that the blue areas of the Nacelles did not light up, and that the alternate hull bottom without the mounting hole( included with the previous Art Asylum ships ) was apparently dropped for this release.

Still, overall I would recommend this toy for those like me who don't care to build models much anymore.

Customer Review: Exactly what I expected, and perhaps even better!
Summary: 5 Stars

For the price paid, this item is a wonderful collectible. Sure, if you paid more, you could reasonably expect more features, (one feature I wish this had was the ability to just turn on the lights for display, but you cannot sadly), but you'd be expecting too much.
This model to my eye is very accurate, while some may argue the hull color itself is too 'white', I think it actually looks quite a bit like it appeared in First Concact, when Picard and Warf walk across the hull to eject the Deflector Dish.
The detailing is very nice, hull aztecing appears right on the mark. Some may find it a tad lacking where the ships many windows are concerned, as they are not painted, or lit in any way, but I again point to the price of the model. For what you pay, it really is quite nice, and worth every penny spent! I highly recommend this one to any fan who wishes to add the Enterprise E to their collection without spending huge quantities of money. I assure you, you won't be disappointed.
Live long, and prosper!

Customer Review: It Is A Nice Replica
Summary: 4 Stars

I won't lie to you, I would have bought this anyway, since I have neither the time, the patience, or the knowledge of how to get modeling glue out of a pet's hair to build one. The sounds are good. But, the lighting like a lot of people have said is the issue. Not to nit-pick, but if you're going to put clear, blue plastic in for the warp nacelles, wouldn't you light them? I mean what's the point? Just paint them in if you're not going to light them. I was really hoping they would light them, because that would have been a fantastic effect for a beautiful design (I always hated the Enterprise D. It always looked like it belonged underwater to me, not in space).

Now, I'm anxiously awaiting the 1701-A. I'm hoping that has better lighting since that was my favorite Enterprise design.

All-in-all, if you love Trek, buy it. I have it next to my Art Asylum TOS Enterprise, and it makes for a great display.
