This is a two piece horn. The thinner bottom half piece slides into the larger top piece for better storage and provides stability when you are done making noise and want to set it down. The kids also like the way that you can snap the top piece out like using a light saber. Second, 3 of the 4 I ordered were properly assembled. On the one that was not assembled correctly I simply slid the thinner piece through the other piece and pushed it the other end. It took be about 10 seconds to figure this out. Third, the plastic is not good quality. However, I keep it in my son's hockey bag and despite a few minor blemishes (the plastic bends and crinkles) this does not impact the sound. Fourth, one of the vuvuzelas that was ordered did have some cosmetic blemishes. I e-mailed the company and they send me another one right away. Fifth, you play it like you would a brass instrument. You tighten the corners of your mouth and buzz your lips. Anyone who has played trumpet, trombone, baritone or tuba can easily play this horn. It is about the same size as a baritone mouthpiece. It took my daughter who plays a woodwind instrument about 30 seconds to figure out the concept. Any 10 year old will figure it out. Sixth, the sound is not like that in the World Cup. For me it sounds like a cross between the mating call of a Bull Moose and a loud cow. This is a great sound for any event (excpet hunting). It has a nearly monotone obnoxious sound. I think that for a bunch of kids going on an overnight hockey, basketball, or wrestling, tournament by bus this would be a great gift. It will keep them busy at every rest stop. It also makes a great noise in any pool area that echoes. The plastic is water-proof. It is certainly a head-turner when you want to make noise.
