Toys and Games Reviews of Stomp Rocket Jr. Glow KitCustomer Review: My 3 year old can't stop playing with it Summary: 5 Stars
My just-turned-3-year-old son opened the Jr. Stomp Rocket last night. Since it said it could shoot up to 100 ft. I figured it would be best set up outside. However, it was snowy and dark. He really wanted to open it and look at it. I set it up in about 1 minute. Then I figured, since he's only 3 and the rockets are soft, maybe he could try it in the house. He LOVED it. I didn't think he'd have enough force to stomp it, but he can shoot it about 30 feet all by himself. He can also reload it by himself. I love that he can be successful and play with it independently. He played with it for about 25 min. straight before bed, then before breakfast this morning, wanted to eat with the rockets near him at breakfast, played with it after breakfast, then it was the only thing he and his little buddy played with during their 2 hour play date, then again after his nap. I ended up confiscating it since he whacked his 1 year old sister with the hose. You'd think it was a fate worse than death! He wanted to eat dinner with the box next to him so he could look at the pictures. Who knows how much longer he would have played with it? I don't mind. It's silent, it's safe, he doesn't need my help, and he is active as he chases and reloads. The only time he needs help is if it gets stuck on top of our armoire. Fun that the rockets glow in the dark and that there are 4 of them (he and his friend alternated turns and could keep the action going while the rockets were being fetched). The person who gave this to us warned us that the non-junior version go pretty high and get stuck in trees and on roof tops. So, if we play with this outside, I guess we'll go to a parking lot or big field and not do it around our home. We couldn't find the nut that secures the hose to the stand and the screw eventually works its way out. I'm sure we can get a replacement for a few cents at a hardware store. However, my son and his buddy figured out that they didn't need to use the stand. They could hold the hose in their hands and aim it where they wanted it (into the next room). They didn't mind at all and it probably makes it even more accurate. The insert said you can go to the company (D & L Company) website for lesson plans. Apparently, this is a popular product with teachers. I'll have to check that out and see if I can teach my son a little science as he plays if they are simple enough concepts. What a great toy and SO affordable. I'm going to order some as gifts.
Customer Review: Kids LOVE these rockets! Summary: 5 Stars
My children and their cousins recieved stomp rockets as gifts from the grandparents. The kids (and adults) love these rockets! It's a great gift for any age from 4 to 11. Over the years, the children spent hours and entire afternoons launching rockets in the front yard, having contests, shooting them over the roof and into trees. They were so much fun we purchased several sets and have given them over the years as gifts -- always with the same reaction. (And many recipients turned around to purchase more for favorite kids in their lives).
Kids LOVE these rockets. They are safe, soft, super easy to use and take off with a burst going up to 30 feet in the air.
The sets are suprisingly durable and for all the use we've had (literally hundreds of hours), we've only experienced one breakage and that was after 5 years of use and with a guest known for breaking things. The laucher tipped over and the child stomped on the housing breaking the frame. The biggest problem we ever had was the adults (especially the dads) monopolizing the fun. It's irresistable, stomp! whosh! and watch the rocket fly high!
You do have to adjust the blue tubing to get the kinks out or the rocket will not launch well.
You don't need the extra rockets unless you really enjoy hearing screams of glee from your children as they launch these rockets over roofs and into trees. In that case, some rockets are bound to get stuck and if you have an extra supply, you can keep going until the others fall down or blow off the roof. Of course, there's always the open space and these things can be shot without aiming them for a roof.
Customer Review: A Stompin' Good Time! Summary: 5 Stars
According to my nephew, his son, Lorenzo had a birthday party Friday, and had a stompin good time playing with this toy for seven hours on the lawn. (It arrived a day earlier. Talk about timing)! He said his older brother learned how to aim the rocket at him, and he fell over playing dead, a phase he is going through. That gave me a start like Santa's warning in that movie, "You'll poke your eye out kid." Apparently the rocket has a foam rubber tip, so all systems are go for launch.
The pictures are on my Facebook, and it gives me complete joy to see a kid so wrapped up in his own mischief with a toy I got for him. Being 500 miles away precluded me from seeing and hearing the excitement, but the age of the computer brought their delight home to me many times over, and I can treasure them always. Seeing pictures of a little boy hop like a kangaroo knowing he could make a rocket go upward is all the reward I need.
The price has since gone up, which probably coincides with the demand of the season, so I recommend that you put this on your wish list and make the purchase post haste before the price reaches the ionosphere.
This is a reminder that kids can find fascination in the simplest of things by watching their toy "push the surly bonds of gravity." (Well, maybe that's a little too deep). Sometimes, it doesn't have to be expensive to be appreciated or just plain fun.
It was a stompin' good time. I'm only sorry I wasn't there to see it.
Happy Birthday, Lorenzo!

Customer Review: This is a GREAT toy for a child..well, actually for the whole family! Summary: 5 Stars
My neighbor's great grandson's were visiting her and my son was outside watching them play with this toy and was in utter amazement. We had been trying to find a fun outdoor toy other than the usuals (baseball, basketball, kicking a ball, frisbee, the playset, riding bikes and scooters...you get the idea...). We just wanted something fun that he'd have fun with because we spend ALOT of time outdoors in the spring, summer and fall..right up until it starts getting too chilly to be out there.
So, we asked my neighbor's granddaughter where she found the toy at for her son's and she said that they had gotten at one of their birthday parties a couple of years ago and couldn't remember the name of it other than it was some sort of air rocket. I looked at all the stores near us, and no one had anything even remotely similar to it. So, I got on the internet and did a search for air rocket, rocket..anything that I could think of that it could have been. Then, this popped up and it took me here to Amazon. It was only $9.95 plus shipping and handling, and my son uses it EVERY evening. He LOVES it. I highly recommend this toy, the child has so much fun with it, and the parents have a blast just watching the child..it's great! It would also make a great gift, as well. Another HUGE plus: I ordered this on a Friday afternoon. It arrived just 2 days later on Monday. I was very, very pleased. :0)
Customer Review: Fun inside or outside Summary: 5 Stars
All four of my children ranging in age from three years to 10 years and my husband love this product. We used it outside with the stand and shot it high enough up in the sky that we lost sight of it until it came racing down. Inside, we use it off the stand and aim it at a target or just across the room. My youngest still has to stomp on it, but my older children can squeeze the launch pad under their arm to get it to go off. Because it is the Jr. set and made entirely of foam, it doesn't hurt when it is launched directly at you. I found this out, several times. : )
The one downside of this toy is the stand. We had to reassemble or readjust it after each launch. It's quite flimsy. However, if you're short enough, the stand isn't necessary when you stomp on the pad. Just lay the pad down, hold the hose in your hand and stomp.
I'm not sure why this says it is a glow set, the rockets are white, but they don't glow. Perhaps adding some glow stickers or paint would be fun.
If you shoot this outside, you will need a wide open space, the rockets are easily caught in trees. Also, make sure there aren't any dogs around. lol. It only takes a second for them to destroy the rocket.
Overall, I am very pleased with this product and bought several more to use as birthday presents.
