Toys and Games Reviews of Crayola Crayon Maker

Customer Review: Awesome toy
Summary: 5 Stars

My 7 year old wanted this for Christmas and when we couldn't find it anywhere in town or the surruonding area we ordered it from Amazon even though it wasn't in stock. Well it came last week and it has been a huge hit. There isn't a crayon left in the house that hasn't been reformulated. I was a bit worried by a couple of the revews, that iw was boring, or that the crayons didn't work well after being melted and reformed. Well neither turned out to be the case. After the first time, he doesn't just sit and watch the crayons melt, he goes off and does something else, but when batch of crayons is done, in goes another. And the newly made crayons work just fine.

Customer Review: Overpriced, but my nice loves it.
Summary: 4 Stars

Lets get the price out of the way. I saw these for $30-40 around Thanksgiving. When returned to buy, the only available ones were $60-70. Now the price is even higher. I don't know why this is. The reviews for this toy were not great, so we hesitated it buy it because of that and the price. However, my niece (7) loves it and that is what matters.

I spoke with my sister yesterday, my niece (7) still loves this crayon maker. They have used it several times. The crayons that come out are small but "really cool." My nephew (8) tried to open the maker while it was running and couldn't get to the hot areas/melting crayons, which is a plus!

Customer Review: Overpriced and no fun!
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased this for my 7 year old son for Christmas. He saw the commercials, and they made it look like so much fun and really cool! After just one use, this piece of junk is sitting in the corner!

I paid about $50 for the crayon maker with the bonus pack. The only thing the "bonus" included was extra crayons! I suppose the only way to get anything "cool" looking is to use just yellow or orange crayons, because if you use anything with green, blue or black, the crayons all just come out looking black!

In a nutshell, total waste of money!

Customer Review: Great activity for kids 6 - 9 years old - but still need adult to help
Summary: 4 Stars

My kids (7 and 4 year old girls) love this machine and are facinated by how colours can be combined to make new ones. The machine still does need adult supervision of course (crayons are heated / melted by 60w chandellier bulb)and the tray needs to be re-heated to be cleaned of wax residue after each use. The locking mechanism is a good idea (heating area is locked until melting cycle is complete). Lots of fun - but not something kids can do completely on their own.

Customer Review: Fun toy with practical uses
Summary: 5 Stars

My kids have a lot of broken crayons, and this toy is the solution. Not only is it fun for them to make new crayons, but it is certainly better than throwing away the broken ones. This toy melts the crayons into a mold, and then when they cool you have a brand new (sometimes multi-colored) crayon. For younger kids, adult supervision is certainly required, since you're dealing with molten wax.
