I purchased this for my 5 almost 6 year old son hoping that it would help out when he was bored while traveling long distances in the car...giving the nintendo ds a break. :-) It was a hit! It has withstanded many drops on the ground! It is great that you can print more pictures to draw from the crayola website. There are quite a few of them to choose from. It is a little hard to clean the screen with dry papertowels or cloths but I found it easier for the child to do if he has a damp cloth and a dry one. I have two girls (6 and 3), and they each have a glow board. It's a great thing to have when they're playing and creating on their own. Because of the two layers, on which they can create/draw, plus the glowing aspect, it really allows them to do a lot of fun and different things, unlike other creative-type projects. It's easy for them to use around different rooms in the house, and is easy to wipe off. They've only had it for a few weeks, so hopefully we won't be losing any of the special markers. I purchased this for my daughter who just turned five and is in kindergarten. She got it Christmas morning and was playing it with her cousin who is six and in first grade. Both loved making fun pictures, although they did not get the dual-screen functionality until I demonstrated it to them. Then they were off to the races.
For the price, this is a great gift for any small child. Not only is it fun, it encourages artistic creativity and some really cool art projects.
Customer Review: Great concept; bad markers

My daughter got this for Christmas and we loved it, but the markers dried out so fast it's almost unusable (one of the markers was dry when we received it). I'm in pursuit of new markers, but didn't find any in the store yet. I'm going to do an internet search (or look at other reviews, b/c I'm sure I'm not the only one looking for this).
For those who have problems with residue, we use a little spray bottle of vinegar and water and that seems to clean it nicely.

My four year old loves art and is thoroughly enjoying this toy. We've had no problems with it, and I find that it's very easy to clean with a wet Bounty towel. I'm not sure why others are having so much difficulty with cleaning it. At any rate, we paid $20 for our board at Christmas (and actually got an additional one for free), so we're very happy with the purchase. I would not pay more than that for it, though. Do your homework and find the lowest price.
