Customer Review: Great concept, poor implementation

My son saw these on tv and really wanted one- it looked cool enough for me to think it might keep him busy. It comes with 12 scenes, 3 patterns and 3 plain sheets. It comes with 4 pens that are all the same- you just color and it essentially uncovers the scene. Unfortunately the pens wear very fast even if you use them perfectly, which seems to be almost a 45 degree angle for the most contact and my son wanted to just scribble with the point down. If the pens lasted longer or the set came with about 3 times as many, this would be a great thing, but it just is the failing point. The 3D part works more or less as advertised, my son thought it was pretty neat anyway.Customer Review: The markers are virtually useless!

We purchased this product yesterday, and it's been a nothing but trouble from the beginning.
We didn't even finish one page, and all of the markers were already working very poorly.
After finishing the first full page, we've been having to wipe off each marker, or change markers almost constantly to get anywhere with uncovering the 3D pictures. I will never buy another Crayola Explosion product.
My 6 yr old son is dissapointed. And I can see why, because when I tried to color the pages for him, I found it to be extremely frustrating.
Toys are supposed to be fun. This one is not.

I love ALL Crayola product even though many are priced more than they should be. I purchased this item and was only able to complete the page with the Tiger and it took me 3 outta the 4 markers they provide to do it. The markers would stop working and like previous reviewers the tips of the markers get covered in black gunk. There's a suggestion in the book that says wipe it on paper towels which I did but still wouldn't work. They should rethink the way of removing the black ink. Other wise this product would of been fun.Customer Review: A little disappointing..

This product was a lot of fun, for the first minute or so. Then, the first marker started running out and getting covered in the black stuff that covers the colorful picture underneath. One marker wasn't even enough to finish the first page. The kit we recieved came with "2 bonus markers" (for a total of six), so I think Crayola may realize that the markers really don't last long enough. The 3D part works, not to the extent that you would see at a 3D movie but the effect is there. Great idea, but it needs some work.Customer Review: Not worth it!

I agree with most of the other reviews here. The markers are no good. They dry out almost immediately and wiping them on a paper towel as stated in the directions only speeds up they drying process. It doesnt help like it said. You have to have it at the precise angle to make it work which is hard for a 7 yr old. We only managed to complete one picture before the markers went dry. Once completed the picture is cool, I will say that. But they need to find better markers.
