Customer Review: Awful! Don't buy it!
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this from a store for my 9 year old daughter's birthday recently. It came with the four markers, plus an extra two. Today, she runs up to me after using it for about 3 minutes complaining that there was ink on her finger. I asked why, and she said that the markers (that also ran out in about 1 minute per marker..) were really wet, so she wondered if she could use a finger that was dampened by the faucet to do the drawings. The only thing she got was a big smudge and a TON of ink on her finger! (which, of course, she spread everywhere!)It was a big mess for me to clean up..and to pile on top of that, after I cleaned up, she ran the WHOLE book under the faucet - whichever one was facing towards the water was immediately colored - what a rip-off! Not only that, but ink from the page spread all over the kitchen floor, counters, AND sink! It was HORRIBLE!

Overall:
If you don't want a big mess in your kitchen, DON'T BUY IT! The pictures are cool..but to color them will take a while...and the markers will only hold for 5 minutes! My daughter's favorite part was having it disassemble itself inside the sink and then throwing it out. I do NOT reccomend this!

Customer Review: Needs a hundred markers to complete
Summary: 2 Stars

My son started using this product with great enthusiasm. After partially completing three of the 20-odd pages all of his markers had run dry. The markers contain some sort of solvent that removes a layer of black ink that hides the 3D drawing underneath. I tried the markers myself and they did not work anymore. The markers become filled with black gunk almost immediately. My son discovered that if you bash the marker tips really hard against the pages some disolvant spurts out and you can make some small progress. I was ready to give up when I started trying cleaning products from under my sink. It turns out the "green" Clorox product will remove the black skin and reveal the drawings underneath. We ended up using the Clorox product and half a roll of paper towels to finish the remaining pages. It was a filthy job. However, in the end, my son really enjoyed looking at the pictures with the 3D glasses. Next time, I'll just buy a book of 3D pictures. This product is only good for 2 or 3 of the 20 pages. Not recommended.

Customer Review: most disappointing
Summary: 1 Stars

took about five minutes for all four "markers" to run dry. My grand-daughter didn't even get through one whole picture. BUT she did figure out that the markers were filled with little more than water. We took a paint brush and some paper towels, wet down the picture, and blotted. Still, the picture had black spots (actually blue and green). So the piece was still not up to what I consider Crayola quality.
Then we moved to the sink where she "developed" her pictures as one would develop a role of film. It was the only way to fully remove the coating from the picture, but it comes off the whole page.
And the coating does stain, so beware. Our hands were all blue and green for the entire next day.

Customer Review: Very disappointing

My three girls ages 11, 9, 5 were very extremely disappointed! Like others have reported the markers only work for a few minutes. My kids didn't even get through one picture. My 5 year old had been saving change and when she saw this item I had to take her to the bank to cash it in and then go buy this, it's hard to see her so upset about this product. My 11 year old finally poured water on the page and removed the black product, which then made a huge mess and ruined a towel. All three of the kids used there own money. The product now sits, not being used at all. I will say though the 3D glasses make almost everything look 3D, but definitely not worth the [...] we paid for the sets. Definitely do not recommend.

Customer Review: New markers are worse than the old ones
Summary: 1 Stars

We just received a new Color Explosion 3D kit from Crayola Consumer Center, with their "newly redesigned pens". This was a "gift" to win back our confidence in their product after complaining at Christmas what a piece of junk the pens were. Well, my 7 yr old son immediately dove into the book (note: same pictures as the original kit) with the new pens. After about 5 minutes, he and the his "art" were covered with little pieces of sticky white stuff. Apparently the pen tips crumble and rub off... onto sleeves, the dining room table, the placemats, the floor, then onto his shoes.... EEEEEK! Please save yourself a lot of cleanup, and find a different product for your kids to "color" with.
