Toys and Games Reviews of Gazoobo Shape SorterCustomer Review: Grandmother, former teacher says...Great toy! Summary: 5 Stars
My 18 month old grandson discovered a well worn, but still usable Gazoobo while visiting a cousin recently. He LOVED it...played with it all weekend. His mom and I appreciate the challenges designed in: color coding, progression from easy to more difficult shape matching, spatial and cognitive recognition, fine motor practice, FUN potential from every angle! WE were careful not to "give away" the secret of the white master key. (Now that Duncan has his own Gazoobo, I'm curious to see how soon that fact will be recognized and whether he'll still enjoy matching the unique key heads with locks.)
Customer Review: My son sleeps with this toy!!! Summary: 5 Stars
My two year old son's speech therapist has this toy and the first time she brought it, it kept him occupied for 45 minutes. He would talk about the colors, keys, animals, and shapes. He counted the doors and loves to carry this toy around the house. The keys are challenging but he is learning to master it and is now saying "twist" and "stuck" for the keys. I love that his speech is coming along so far with this toy and that he is telling me everything he does as he plays with the toy. His new thing is he has to sleep with it in his bed. That is how much he LOVES this toy. Highly Recommend!!!
Customer Review: Great Learning and Therapy Toy Summary: 5 Stars
I first used this toy in speech therapy sessions with toddlers 1-3 years old, and I loved it so much that I bought it for my niece's 2nd birthday! I like using it to teach animal, shape, and color names as well as matching shapes and colors. Kids love using the keys to unlock and lock the doors. In therapy sessions, I use the pieces as reinforcement for completing another task (ex: if the child answers a question, I give them one of the pieces to put in the Gazebo). I recommend this toy to any child, family, or therapist. The only concern is losing the pieces.
Customer Review: Too frustrating! Summary: 3 Stars
I thought this was the cutest (and most educational) toy! - was I wrong! The idea is cute, but it is sitting in my garage waiting to be thrown out. After the first few weeks, the doors stopped closing because the locks malfunctioned. You have to get them to just the right spot, and not move the toy, in order to keep the pieces inside. Also, the edges on the top are rough, so when my son's little sister would try to put her hands inside, they would get all scratched up (and that's on the times her hand DIDN'T get stuck). Cute idea, but the quality isn't there.
Customer Review: Received the animal cottage instead Summary: 5 Stars
When I ordered the Gazoobo, I received Chicco's Animal cottage instead. Looks very similar but isn't made as well. Baby Earth DOES NOT sell the Gazoobo so it is Amazon's fault for listing them as the seller. Baby Earth's customer service was very helpful with free shipping to return the Animal cottage. A friend has the Gazoobo sorter and it is so much better I'd rather not have anything than pay the same price for one that will fall apart. I didn't even need to open the Cottage to see how poorly it was made.
I hope I can find the Gazoobo soon!
